I consider this the best inexpensive cell phone that Tracfone sold. It is a no frills phone for those that just want to make and receive calls. Very solid phone and very intuitive to use. It also has great battery time. Unfortunately, Tracfone does not seem to offer this phone anymore - or any Nokia phone that I know of (at least in the area codes I checked). I can't understand why they dropped the low end Nokia phones since I think they are very good phones. Luckily, you can still find these phones on eBay. Just note that you cannot use ANY Nokia 1100 or similar with Tracfone. It has to come from Tracfone originally. The firmware is specific to Tracfone. This also applies to any phone from a any prepaid provider. Net10 does offer a Nokia 1600. Net10 is another branch of Tracfone with a little different price structure. If you use a lot of minutes every month, Net10 is an attractive option - especially if you take advantage of the promotions. In conclusion....I have used several other phones from Tracfone and found them to be very inferior to the Nokia 1100. I finally had to find one on eBay since I could not stand the other phones.Read full review
This is an inexpensive, no-frills phone. It doesn't do much except phone and text, but that's pretty much all we need. I can afford to get one for each kid and we can all keep in touch. The battery life is amazing - it usually only needs to be recharged once a week. It's easy for everyone in the family to learn how to use. A very intuitive user interface. It's sturdy, too. One got run over by our minivan and is still going strong. It survives most things my kids can dish out except for going through the wash and swimming. Did not survive the wash - lost two that way - but one did survive a short dip in the pool. Tracfone no longer offers these for sale in America, so you can only get used ones, sad to say. I really wish they'd bring them back!!
It is a good unit although it would be considered out-dated by todays standards. The only problem to expect is that as an old unit, even if new in the box, the sim card that comes with it will have been deactivated by tracfone since it is older than 6 months and they will have to send another one to you through the mail. The other problem with all tracfones are that you are directed to operators that rarely speak english well so there is a huge language barrier, unless you are middle eastern. Be prepared to spend 1-2 hours on the phone in an attempt to set up the phone. Lastly, tracfones can be very economical although it has been my experience through owning a few of them that trac keeps terrible records. My broken phone that I was replacing had over 2500 pre-paid units left on it. Not surprisingly, trac only gave me credit for 1260 units because they had previously not given me credit for a double minutes card so I lost over $100.00. When I attempted to take it to another level, I was refused. They also refused to give me an operator number of the person I was speaking too.Read full review
I have had many Tracfones and for a simple phone that makes and receives calls without all the extras that I don't use anyway, this is the best phone, The battery life is outstanding. The battery life is the longest lasting battery life of any phone I've used. If the phone is unused, the battery won't deplete it's charge like on all other phones I've owned. I left my original 1100b on my car roof and I destroyed it after several cars ran over it. Tracfone does not carry this phone anymore and I've been disappointed with the replacements I used until I saw this one NEW on Ebay. I had to buy it to replace the other 1100b. I have been very satisfied with this phone and I consider this the best phone Tracfone ever had. The antenna construction must be excellent also. The original phone I destroyed, the sim card was with AT&T and this card is with T-Mobile. This phone antenna system has the same high signal strength with both carriers in most locations compared to other phones. I have had "no service" and "emergency only" issues with T-Mobile service on other phones in many of the same locations. The phone is easy to access the screens I use the most. If you are a simple person like me who doesn't text message or use the phone for anything else but calling people this is the phone for you. It's a shame Nokia no longer makes it.Read full review
When I lost my tracfone Nokia 1100, and saw that it was no longer offered at tracfone, I knew I had to find one on eBay. This phone has survived falling off a moving bicycle. It holds a charge for over a week with light use. It only has monophonic ringtones, but, hey there's a feature so you can compose your own! And it has Nibbles game and a flashlight! The raised keypad is easy for the less than dextrous to use. The predictive text is easy to use for messaging. All in all, if easy to use, durable, and dependable are what you are looking for this is your phone. I drive an old Geo Prizm, and now that I think of it, the Nokia 1100 is the Geo Prizm of cellphones.
