Mothra...Not So Good/Ghidora...A Great Story
So before I dive right into the films themselves...what's great about this disc is that it's really two films on one disc; there's a great value in there and it pays off in just one of these two movies. So let me start with the Mothra movie....the story is weird. Some fans might have a hard time following this movie. While it is Godzilla vs Mothra, there is actually a third villain monster in this movie. He's basically nothing more than an evil Mothra, here to destroy the Earth. Mothra is supposed to save us from him and of course, Godzilla gets in the mix. The fight scenes are ok in this, but there is a rather deplorable part where Mothra is looking for the twins and is destroying the city in the process....I thought he was helping? Also, someone didn't take the time to write a proper ending to this film because while Godzilla is fighting, the two insects decide to team-up for no apparent reason. They're fighting and then *POOF* friends and they tag-team on Godzilla. I think fans should take the time to watch this just for the story and to see the new monster - even though you could call him a rip off of Mothra, he's slightly different and pretty darn cool at times. The special effects are standard for the Godzilla 90s series. To just summarize it, it's on the weak side, but any fan should watch it. Also, fans of just Mothra should add this to their collection since it's the focal point anyway. Now most of us recognize King Ghidora as an alien monster that was brought to Earth in several movies to wreak havoc and destroy us all. I don't want to divulge too many details and specifics about the movie and its story in this review, because it's really a great movie. The story has a lot of twists and turns, and really reinvents King Ghidora and Godzilla. Let's just say that the movie features aliens up to their old trickery again. This movie makes owning this double feature disc worth it. The story is one of the better stories of ALL the Godzilla films. The special effects and fight scenes are awesome. While it does have its moments that are like a bitter pill to swallow (but what Godzilla movie doesn't?) it's still great. Fans will eat this one up....whether they are long time fans, old school fans, new fans - whoever! I wish I could detail some scenes that are good, or what was great about the story, but if I do, it will ruin it before you watch it! It's just a well written story, has twists and surprises and a great ending. This movie helps Godzilla shine in the monster movie/sci-fi genre.Read full review

Godzilla & Mothra, & Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
Ok, so this is a double bill DVD With Godzila & Mothra, the battle for earth. And Godzilla vs King Ghidorah on the flipside. Godzilla & Mothra Starts a little slow but builds up to all the action quickly. Theirs a new bad guy/good guy? in town called Battra.Who double teams w/ Mothra to take on Godzilla. In Godzilla vs King Ghidorah it gets a little confusing w/ the "people of the future & regular time". 1st Godzilla fights King Ghidorah in regular time then the future people get Ghidorah, bring him to the future, fix him, & turn him into Mecha-King Ghidorah, then send him back to regular time to try & defeat Godzilla....again.Great fun if your a Godzilla fan, like my son whom I got these movies for.

Godzilla vs. King Ghidora/Godzilla & Mothra
Boy, you can't go wrong with this double-feature. Godzilla's most popular villain AND his most popular ally return, updated and awesome. In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, a group of people from the distant future (the 'futurians') come to the present promising to repair a dismal future for Japan by eliminating Godzilla from history before he was created. However, their TRUE intentions are to destroy a PROSPEROUS future by replacing Godzilla with King Ghidorah! Even so, Godzilla still comes back even stronger than before, and the two monsters have what is probably the most spectacular battle in the entire franchise. In addition, they also introduce Mecha King Ghidorah, which is reason enough to buy this DVD all by itself! Mothra fans unite for Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for Earth! Often referred to as "Godzilla vs. Mothra," this movie bears only moderate resemlbance to the 1961 film in which Godzilla and Mothra first meet. A meteor awakens Godzilla and a giant caterpillar named Battra, both of which are bent on destroying human society. Luckily we have Mothra to come save the day. In this particular movie, Mothra and Battra are two forces of nature created to protect Earth, one being good and the other being evil (or more accurately "less good"). Godzilla looks great in this one, and so does Mothra. The twin faeries are in this one as well, calling themselves the Earth's Cosmos, and they're well done (although one is slightly taller than the other, which kind of bugs me for some reason). Anyway, in case you're one of those people whose attitude is "What's a butterfly going to do against Godzilla?" Mothra has a HUGE array of firepower in this one, shooting lightning all over the friggin' place. It's a great movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.Read full review
