Difficult to get the battery compartment open to install the battery but that is just the way Bose made it. But it requires NO programming. Once the battery is installed it works perfectly right off the bat. My original remote stopped working, so I replaced it with this one which is also the actual Bose remote and NOT a copy.

This replacement remote works perfectly and has given new life to my old Wave Radio/CD player.
