I like the overall looks of and feel of this phone. The main reason I ordered a new phone was that the old phone I had didn't have a loud ring. This phone has a very nice loud ring when a call is coming in. The main thing I do not like about this phone is that the phone cord to connect the phone to the incoming line and the line that hooks the handset to the receiver will not come out. I wanted to be able to connect a long cord to this phone so I could use it all over my kitchen. I cannot do that with the way this cord is connected inside the handset. I do like that it has caller ID and that this area is clear and bright enough that you can read who the caller is. I think I will learn to like this phone a lot more than the one I had. I also like the way this phone hangs up. I installed it on the wall and most other phones have a tendency to fall off the base when you hang the handset up. The phone ID said it all. The only negative comment is that it did not have instructions and we had to obtain it on line.

GE 29281GE1 Trimline Corded Phone With Caller ID (Black) Pro: The phone has a nice very clean ring, SOLID volume all around, a clean arrangement of the squared firm rubber buttons, Build quality and looks. I found the black Ver. with Caller ID holding the most appeal. Con: It could use lighted buttons. The Phone cords are non-removerable but the cord supplied for the Handset to base will stretch to 6' Ft. The line for the base to wall is about 3" ft non-removeable. Knowing a little electronics will help though. Compare: The best Trim/Slim line phone to communicate with even without caller ID.
This is a great phone. Only one thing I would change but it did not stop me from keeping this phone is: The cord between the handset and the body of the phone is not exchangeable
If our power goes out our cordless phones don't work. I thought it would be a good idea to have one as a back up
