This is my 3rd same dashcam over the last 4 years from 2 different companies. This newest dashcam works fine. Great video etc. One big problem...when setting the date and time, all is fine. Turn off ignition and then start car again, and the date goes back to the factory set date which is 18/1/12. Very weird indeed. However, the time in shipping and the inexpensive cost of the camera and shipping cost to return it...I will keep it, even with wonky date and time setting. The video is what speaks loudly in an accident, anyway. Great cam for the price!

For the price, the dashcam is really good and does the HD recording as promised. It has loop recording option and G sensor. The capacitor based cam, works only when plugged in the car. It never worked for me on connecting with laptop for some reason. The description mentioned Transcends sd card, but currently I am using Samsung 32GB high speed sd card and it works fine. Highly recommended for budget price and if needed for insurance purposes, just to record collision, etc.

In hot climates where a vehicle's internal temperature can reach extremely high temperatures a dashcam powered by a lithium-ion battery risks leakage or explosion. For this reason a capacitor model is preferable; it runs cooler, is more stable, it is safer, and there is no risk of damage to the unit. A dashcam that relies on battery power will have to be recharged frequently and eventually a battery will lose its ability to hold a charge. Because of this most users will simply choose to leave their dashcam plugged into their vehicle's 12v outlet. If that's the case then just choose the capacitor model. The G1W with a genuine Novatek chipset is a great value producing quality video images that rival dashcam costing twice as much. Choosing the blueskysea branded model will ensure you're getting the genuine Novatek chipset rather than one of inferior quality. In addition tof great 1080HD video quality the G1W has a lot of nice features accessed through an easily navigated on-screen menu. You'll pretty much choose your settings once -- including setting date/time formats and entering your license plate number (which, if you choose, are stamped onto the video) -- and that'll be it. Once the dashcam is installed and operational you can forget about it. It will turn itself on when you start your car, turn itself off after the power shuts down, and record everything it sees in-between. The microSD chip (32GB max) will continuously loop record so you'll never have to worry about a full memory card not capturing an incident. Again, once it's set up you can pretty much forget it's there until you have a need to review a file. To do that you can just pop out the microSD card and insert it into a computer for playback and storage, or you could remove the entire dashcam and attach it to both a power source (because it has a capacitor and not a battery) and a computer, or you can just play back files right on your dash cam and view them on its built-in 2.7" color display. This is a solid value. Get one.Read full review

Loses date if car has been parked longer than a day or two. Sometimes does not turn on and requires restart. Bad picture quality at night.

Don't know why anyone (other reviewer) would expect this to have a battery, its listed as a capacitor model, so the whole point is that it does not have a battery. If you would like a battery chose the original with battery. I have had mine for almost a year and I am buying another one now. Taking price into consideration it is everything I expected.
