I love these Tributes. Stock pickups are really good. I have two of these ASAT guitars. One I kept the stock pickups. The other I installed a set of Bill (Wilde) Lawrence customs. You can get a set for less than $100. Amazing quality for the cost!! Out of a dozen different Tributes, only one time have I needed to address a fret issue. 10 min of filing and it was perfect. You can get the necks with light or heavy finish. I prefer little. The USA ASATs maybe feel a bit more refined but that is the extent of the differences. And for that you pay $800 or more.

Leo Fender founded G&L with his long-time friend George (George & Leo, get it?), after selling his namesake company, Fender Musical Instruments, and starting another company called Music Man. The G&L ASAT is an improved version of the famous Telecaster, and sports tweaks that Leo felt made the guitar more playable, more tuneful, just MORE! The adjustable pole-piece pickups, more solid bridge for better sustain, tighter tuners, better electronics, individual saddles for more accurate intonation, and higher quality wood all add up to a supercharged Tele design!

The only problem I had at all was the neck pickup needed adjusting closer to the strings because the other pickup was louder.
