The show was well thought out for the what it is. It is a comedy that was based off of full metal panic. I read that someone said that it was the first, but the story line is set after the first 2 seasons. They even have a couple flashbacks from the original series. Unlike the original series that is based around a world domination type of aspect with lots of guns and robots and fighting, Fumoffu is set in high school life with Sousuke and Kaname acting almost like boyfriend and girlfriend. There are no big robots, but still lots of guns, lazers, grenades, traps, etc. But unlike the first show, Sousuke is a little more paranoid (benefit for the humor) and military engaged in his behavior in this one. An example would be when someone puts a letter in his locker, he takes that it may be a bomb and blows his... and everyone elses lockers with C4. If you had seen the origanal series, you will understand things a little better on why things are, but it is not mandatory to understand the show. It is made more purely on the humor side of things with no real plot through the whole fumoffu show. It is more a lot of short stories that are very entertaining to watch with lots of humor. After watching the show there is still one thing I have not figured out.. Where does Kaname keep that giant fan that she keeps hitting Sousuke with??Read full review
To understand the humor in some of these far-fetched situations requires knowing at least the background to Full Metal Panic! It would be better if you've watched the first season before watching this. Fumoffu is much more lighthearted and doesn't contain an ounce of seriousness; it focuses exclusively on the characters' school life and introduces some new characters. These new characters fit seamlessly into the dynamic of Sousuke and Kaname, and I really appreciate how well thought out these characters' roles are. It's a great series to watch when you're in the mood for comedy or something light-hearted. The first few episodes actually contain two shorter stories, but I think some of these shorter skits are the more enjoyable ones.
I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard or so loud at just one series. Fumoffu is hilarious, and a perfect bit of fun for fans of the original Full Metal Panic series. Much more slapstick that the original series, Fumoffu still keeps it's classic style but packs it with a lot more of the humor we only got a taste of in the series.
This is a sequel to full metal panic. I was busting up watching this. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. This series is the characters from full metal panic only minus the big robots. The whole thing is more like a school romance comedy. The animation is top notch, for this genre I'd rank it #1 of all the dubbed stuff I've seen.
Japanese anime at its best includes action, adventure, humor and good story line. This, being the second series, has most of these elements leaning more towards humor this time around. If you like Full Metal Panic! you will like FMP? FUMOFFU too.
