I have owned the E900 for 7 or 8 years, and actually forgot just how great this camera is! I stepped away from messing with photography as a hobby, and just ocassionaly took some pics for ebay or family. Well, long story short, this first quarter of 2017, I decided to take the plunge, and get into Micro Four Thirds cameras, specifically the Olympus EVOLT E-500. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However...... The Finepix E900 has ALL the auto and manual functions you could want, plus RAW, and has a very decent sized sensor(1/1.6" (~ 8 x 6 mm))! I just compared the pictures from my Fuji AX650 (Lower end point & shoot, but VERY tiny/lightweight!!!) to the E900, and of course, looked at the E-500 as well. Guess what? The Finepix E900 is a VERY good happy medium between cheaper Point & Shoot cameras (Image sensor typically is 1/2.3" (~ 6.16 x 4.62 mm)), and the Micro Four Thirds System (Four Thirds (17.3 x 13 mm))! I am again, fired up about owning this E900, imagine that! ;) LOL I HIGHLY recommend this camera to those who want better than point & shoot, without the bulk and slightly more cost of Micro Four Thirds, and about 1/2 the learning curve! :)Read full review

Its an easy camera to use and the photos are awesome. This is my third camera, there is a flaw in the camera that stops working. The on button stops working, but I love the camera and keep replacing it on ebay where you can buy just about anything.

This is a 2005-2006 "advanced-user" P&S camera. Think of it as a bargain version of Canon G11. It has a live histogram, full manual controls, auto-bracketing, and it can shoot RAW. Its powered by 2-AA batteries (use Sanyo Eneloop or similar) you might only get 200 shots from one set, but not having proprietary batteries is a great thing. The AA battery compartment bulges making it easy to hold and operate the camera with one hand, unfortunately this bulge also means you'll need cargo pants if you want to put the camera in your pocket. The computer connection is via a standard mini-USB, not some unusual proprietary thing. It's biggest minus is that is uses the obsolete Fuji/Olympus xD Picture Cards - so you better pick up a few while they're still in stores. The optical or low light performance of the E900 is below the Canon G11 or Panasonic LX3, but at 1/5th the price of those cameras you have better creative control and low-light performance than any similarly priced new camera I can think of. I'd still rate the camera as Good or Very-Good even if you only use it in "Auto" or "N" (natural light-high ISO) mode. For creative photography on a budget, you should also consider the Canon A-series cameras that are compatible with CHDK (search for the CHDK wiki). CHDK is sort of like running Linux on certain Canon cameras - you get additional on-screen information and menu functions that provide live-histogram, more granular exposure control, and many other functions that you thought only expensive cameras could offer. My subjective feeling is that comparing the E900 with cameras like the Canon PowerShot A650IS, the Canon cameras have better optics and image stabilization, whereas the Fuji's image sensor is better optimized for high-ISO photography.Read full review
