As a vegetarian, I was, at first, thrilled to find a slow-cooker cookbook that had the potential to actually be useful. It's nice to have, but I honestly haven't made a single recipe since I bought it more than a month ago. I needed "economical" and "practical" and this book is more "gourmet" and "innovative." If a "really cool" collection of vegetarian recipes for your slow cooker is what you're looking for, you've found your source. If a simple variety of economical vegetarian meals for a family with children are what you're after, I doubt you'll use this book much.
The recipes are easy, healthy and delicious. They run the gamut from typical American to many great ethnic dishes. The initial chapter is dedicated to helpful hints not only on cooking methods but with using specific foods. Besides the three daily meals (breakfast!), condiments, desserts, breads and drinks are just some of the fare included. Of all the books checked out from the library I renewed this one over and over. I finally bought my own copy.
