Frasier was a really funny series - why did it ever end? But: BUYERS BEWARE!! I was lucky to have purchased this product from a truly reliable seller who advertised it as a Region 1 DVD collectors set. The DVDs were viewable on my player but didn't include all the special features advertised in the true Region 1 sets. Also, subtitles are the default on most seasons, meaning I had to go back and turn off the subtitles every time I put in another DVD. If your remote gives out down the road and you don't have a menu feature on the player itself (most don't), you're stuck with the subtitles until you get a new DVD player. I was lucky: The seller refunded my money since she didn't realize it was an import either. ASK SELLERS TO SEND YOU AN ACTUAL PHOTO OF THE PRODUCT FOR SALE BEFORE YOU BID! The imports show a box set with the wrong little dog on the front. It's not even a Parson (Jack) Russell Terrier like Eddie. If they can't show you anything but the stock photo, buy from someone else. There are a lot of imports out there!!Read full review
***BEWARE OF FAKE FRASIER DVDS!!!!!*** FANTASTIC SHOW! As a fan of the show Cheers (own all 11 seasons), Frasier was one of my FAVORITE characters on the show. It wasn't until recently that I started to watch the show and fell in love. I can't believe I haven't watched this show, especially as much as I loved the character on Cheers! This show is funny, often producing the same feeling that you have watching Cheers, minus the 'hanging out with friends' aspect that makes me love it so much. Frasier's character remains as true on this show as it was earlier, but is GREATLY enhanced with the characters of Niles and his father. The exchange between the three of them is just classic! If you enjoy Cheers (or) the character Frasier and never have watched the show (like me), I highly suggest you pick these up! ***BEWARE OF FAKES**** Sadly, my set that I got has all the signs of being a fake / reprint, than being original. While sold to me as 'Authentic Region 1', I noticed right away that my DVDs looked like low quality reproductions. (IE: Faded color labels, boxes were half the size as the ones pictured, etc.) But, the kicker and tell-tale sign of it being a fake was the lack of CSS encryption on my DVDs. (This is standard copy-protection method used on all commercial DVDs.) To be sure, my Cheers 1 Season DVDs have CSS, while my Frasier Season 1 DVD did not. (They were both released on the same day - 05/20/2003.) I find it very hard to believe that CBS / Paramount put CSS on one set, but not the other. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN BUYING THESE OFF EBAY! I'm in the process of trying to get this resolved with Ebay, but hope that nobody else suffers the same dupe that I did.Read full review
In my estimation, Frasier is the quintessential wry, savvy, educated man's comedy series! The writing is unparalleled and the acting is without peer. The entire ensemble works like a well-oiled machine, right down to the timing of Eddie, the Jack Russell Terrier who really rules the roost! The barbs and sarcasm come fast and furious but are tinged with affection and true friendship. I have loved the show for years and hated to see it cancelled--when you catch it on satellite now, it is interrupted by numerous commercials which break the rythm of the show----and the episodes are rarely shown in chronlogical order. Therefore I spent this $100+ to have each and every episode of all 11 seasons in one collection, in order and with no commercials!!!!!! If you love the show, and thousands do, get your own collection---you will be glad you did. This is Jeff Plair wishing u good mental health--the comedy itself provides laughter and pathos in order to fleshout its brand of acceptance and tolerance. I can safely say this is one of the finest American SitcomsComplete does take some knowledge of sharp repartee and more that a sprinkling of the finer things of life-art,fashion, antiques, wine are just a few of the subjects touched on in most episodes. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!Read full review
This was one of my all time favorite shows and characters going all the way back to Frasiers first appearance on Cheers. The cast work great together and all worked on all 11 seasons which is a rariety. Frasier Crane moves back to his hometown Seattle from Boston and starts a whole new life. He hosts a radio talk show with his producer Roz. Lives with his father, Martin, and his caretaker Daphne. His best friend happens to be his brother Niles, who like Frasier is a shrink. The cast works so well together and the show was written so well that it won a total of 31 Emmys during its run. I recommend this show to any fan of Cheers or comedy. A+++++
Grate, every thing was good.Got the product in time for chrismas. The Crane sons, who possess fine tastes, intellectual interests, and high opinions of themselves, frequently clash with their blue-collar, down-to-earth father. The brothers' close relationship is often turbulent, and their sibling rivalry intermittently results in chaos. Other recurring themes include the breakdown of Niles' marriage to the never-seen Maris, Frasier's search for love, Martin's new life after retirement, and the various attempts by the two brothers to gain acceptance into Seattle's cultural elite.
