Had this for a month now and can say the Framemeister is an excellent product. The build quality is not what you'd expect for a product at $500 (NZD), feels more inline with something much cheaper and feels really lightweight, but the plastic does feel sturdy enough that it won't easily crack from general use. Also has a remote with many functions on it, but it's in Japanese, so you'd need a guide to see what each button is or find an English remote overlay sticker, which can be found on Ebay. Like the remote, the scaler menu is also in Japanese, but there's a Firmware update with English too which I highly recommend doing first, cause of the extra features added. The scaler really shines when it comes to 240/288p and handling RGB, though it comes with a JP21 adapter for RGB, so you'd need to buy a EuroSCART adapter. While RGB is the way to go with this device, Component also looks equally great but does require some tweaking in the scaler settings as it's quite dark and oversaturated and it will require an adapter cause the device has a D-Terminal port instead. Composite is about as you'd expect and S-Video looks surprisingly good on it, but both still have visual noise and colours bleed more in places, so don't expect it to match up to RGB and Component. The scanlines feature is a neat addition to the many options on this scaler, but it's not something I really wanted, so I can't say much on it. The scaler also has two HDMI inputs on it too with an option to enable Passthrough for both (straight HDMI signal with no processing), which is an excellent addition, so you won't be sacrificing any ports for other HDMI devices you have (PS3, Blu-ray player etc). I tested this up to at least a 3D signal via PS3 running 3D Blu-ray, and the 3D function hasn't been lost when connected into the Framemeister. The one major negative I can say with this scaler is that it's slow with changing resolutions, so it can get annoying when having to wait a few seconds of black inbetween gameplay at 240/288p and menus at 480/576i. So overall, this product is the best choice right now if you're wanting an easy solution of hooking up your older consoles to a modern display and well worth the investment if you can make it.Read full review

This upscaler does an abmirable job of upscaling old 240p and 480i sources if you configure it well and is pretty much the best device on the market nowadays. Just upgrade to english firmware and buy an english overlay for the remote and you're golden. Google the pixel purist for some pre-made profiles for this device. My ONE frustration with it is that it's VERY slow to display when first receiving a signal or when switching video sources. I have all of my video game systems hooked up to a switch, and when I swap from SNES to N64, for example, there's a ~8-10 second delay before it will display video from the N64. It's a great device, but it's annoying sitting around for this danged thing to detect a video signal, so it loses a star for that.

This product arrived in a timely manner with all required components. The quality of the game image when outputting through the high quality inputs can not be overstated. This product makes my old games look better than they ever did before. Input lag is minimal/not noticeable for most players. Firmware installation and language setup is very easy to do. English overlay on the remote is worth purchasing if you speak English. Without a doubt the best upscaler out there. It is pricey, but if you are really into classic games it will almost definitely be worth your money. Keep in mind that you should research what additional cables you need to buy in order to output the best quality signal, and buy the correct cables for your setup. Remember that the supplied connector cable is JP21, NOT SCART - so if you want to use SCART you need to buy a replacement cable. Read full review

Once I got the Framemeister in I tried it out right away. I noticed a significant difference between S-Video and putting it through the Framemeister. If you are passionate about retro gaming and want the best picture quality, I highly recommend getting one.

Best Framemeister to ever have for your Retro gaming consoles. I test all outputs on it. from Composite A/V to S-Video. RGB and YPbPr Component. I'm lost for words is to how good this is. I can finally play my Sega Mega-Drive, Master System Atari 2600, SNES and N64 consoles with this and shows how awesome 240p shows up in progressive video output.
