Do you remember watching Fraggle Rock back in the 80s? If you enjoyed it then...you'll love sharing it with your kids today! It's good wholesome fun from Jim Henson (the creator of the Muppets). For those of you who've never watched the show and want to know what it's about... Fraggle Rock is a world located underneath/between the world of Humans and the world of Gorgs. Fraggles are the carefree creatures, who live in Fraggle Rock. They enjoy singing, poetry, games, adventure and fun. There are five main Fraggle characters (with distinct personalities, that most children can relate to and learn from). Doozers also live in Fraggle Rock. They enjoy building structures that the Fraggles love to eat (teaching children the value of hard work). Gorgs are large, hairy, silly and sometimes dangerous creatures who live in a mythical land above Fraggle Rock (they provide an element of danger for the Fraggles). There is a King, Queen and a young Prince Gorg (who is obsessed with trying to capture a Fraggle). The Fraggles often sneak into the Gorg realm to visit a creature called the Trash Heap...who's supposed to be some sort of Oracle (she tells fortunes, gives advice, etc...) and the Fraggles have many adventures, trying to outwit the Gorgs. There is also a Fraggle named Uncle Travelling Matt. He is adventurous and has set out on a journey, to explore the Human world. He sends postcards back to Fraggle Rock, to tell his nephew about his adventures in our world. And...there is a Human character named Doc, with a dog named Sprocket, who lives above Fraggle Rock. Travelling Matt mails his postcard to Doc's address...and the Fraggles have many adventures, trying to avoid Doc and Sprocket...while trying to retrieve the Matt's post cards. The show encourages children to use their imaginations and teaches them how to solve problems and interact with others (by showing how the Fraggles handle each problem that comes their way). Travelling Matt's postcards also provide a humorous view of our world and encourage children to think about how our world might look, to someone who's not familiar with it. All-in-all...it's a wonderful show full of likeable characters, who have adventures that your children will enjoy (and they'll be learning how to problem solve and interact well with others...without even knowing it). My family gives Fraggle Rock 5 Stars!Read full review
From Uncle Traveling Matt to Marge the Trash Heap these enchanting Muppets will catch your childs imagination. I enjoyed all the characters along with my children when the program first aired on HBO in the 80's. The dynamics of the dog in the humans house, the mini Dosers that make Doser sticks for the Fraggles to eat and the Gorgs that are always trying to stomp the Fraggles like bugs, this enchanting program teaches while it entertains. The life lessons depicted in this wonderfully written clever childrens program will delight children and parents alike. Its sure to spark conversations for dinner talk, car rides, bath time and tucking in good night times. Jim Henson left an unbelievable legacy for my grandchildren to enjoy. Its already the most requested DVD in my grandsons house and you know we Grandmothers love to please our grandbabies.Read full review
I bought this movie for my wife. My wife is 35 & I am 37. Me & my wife grew up watching this show!! When I bought the first season, it was nice to see my eighteen, fourteen & five year old sit down & watch this with us! When I told some of my co-workers about this show, they looked at me kinda crazy because they never heard of it!! I think its because they are in there middle to late twentys!! When Jim henson started sesame street & the muppet show, I think Jim had one helluva idea!! Its nice to see sesame street still on the air & it would be nice to see the muppet show back on the air & fraggle rock!! Whether your young middle age or a senior, these shows were great too watch & especially all the muppet movies they have put out over the years!! If you have never watched them, its a good idea to watch them especially with your kids!! Too bad Jim Henson is not alive anymore because I would shake his hand & thank him for all the wonderful years of great magic!! But it is great to see his son Brian following in his dads footsteps!! LONG LIVE THE MUPPETS!!Read full review
My wife and I enjoyed watching the show with our children, and even after the kids left home. An intertaining program with positive lessons & reminders for young and old alike. A great reminder that everything has it's place in this world and you can learn something new everyday, if you'll look and listen. Fraggle Rock enforces the positive part of friends, and how important they can be in your live. To this day, it reminds me everyone has a tale to tell. We have all 4 seasons and enjoy every show. If you have an imagination and a love for life, you'll love Fraggle Rock. Steamer51
I bought this box set for my grandson. My daughters loved Fraggle Rock when they were children. My grandson has really enjoyed this present. I didn't think that was possible with the way he is engrossed with his video games, but Fraggle Rock has him totally engrossed. He has watched the entire season at least twice already. Hardly a day goes by when he doesn't watch a least one episode. This has been a great buy.
