I have been using the 44T handpiece with the Foredom SR 1/6 hp motor and flexshaft along with Flexcut woodcarving gouges for a couple of weeks now and have a pretty good sense of its advantages and limitations. First of all, I am carving hardwoods at the moment and this setup is clearly underpowered. I can only take very light or shallow cuts without it bogging down. This is not the fault of the handpiece, but if you are going to use it with the SR motor you may be disappointed. I have tried carving softwoods briefly and the performance is better, but not markedly so. The TX series of 1/3 hp motors would probably give better results, but their cost is considerably more. The other thing potential users should know is that the handpiece and the flexshaft near the handpiece get uncomfortably hot after only a few minutes of carving, and I think it would get even hotter, faster with the more powerful motor. On the plus side, I have good control for carving and with good very sharp tools the results are quite good. Overall, I would recommend the handpiece for light, intermittent carving so that the handpiece can cool off, which it will after about 5 minutes. Read full review

Great quality and is easy to hold. I use it to carve my decoys.

Seems to be a good product. It is replacing one that was purchased 30 years ago and is just wearing out.
