Neat concept, terrible execution. 80 percent of the recipes are fish based. Also, many many many of the recipes are not for a normal meal at all, even for a classier family setting. Finally, and here is the frustrating part, I got curious and picked a bunch of the recipes at random (6 actually from different chefs) and googled them. Not only were they ALL on the food network site where you can get them for free, they were also all located on the world wide web in other locations. So don't waste your time or your hard earned cash. The only remotely redeeming feature of this cookbook were the cute little snippets of info on the individual chef's at the start of each chapter.
I loved this book because first of all I love to collect cookbooks and this one is not just a cookbook.Second-this is compiled by the best of the best on The Food Network Cooking Shows-on the Food Channel, which I have been watching on cable since it's inception in 1993. Three -It isn't just a cook book because it has photos, and interviews of the Master Cooks-and lets you get to know a little more about the stars....And they really ARE entertainers on their respective shows. Who can't recognize Paula Deen and her fabulous Silvery hair and famous voice, as well as the great recipes she creates; or Emeril and his "BAM! You know immediately who that booming voice belongs to, or sweet little Rachel Ray and her puppy Isaboo, and her inventive 30 minute meals, and 'snack of the Day' each day on her program, as well as the many other programs she does for Food Network! This book is also great because each chef in here has picked a charity in which a portion of the proceeds of the book will go to like Second Harvest, Meals on Wheels, and the Food Bank of New York City, to name a few. There are over 260 pages in the book-over 120 recipes both from the chefs and Food Network staff-so you can find something to whet your appetite and to match your cooking skills. In any event this is an entertaining read and you may just rearn something!Read full review
I was very pleased with the variety of recipes from my favorite Food Network Chefs & Cooks. I may not be able to prepare & cook my meals exactly like them but it has improved my culinary skills a great deal. I have more styles of cooking from all over the country at my fingertips now. I wish this cookbook contained more of my very favorite recipes from each of them but a cookbook can contain only so many recipes. This cookbook offers a wide variety of cooking skill levels but not as many for novices. Still an excellent cookbook.
I collect cookbooks and I love the food network cooking shows...so I wanted to purchase this cookbook because it has recipes from all the different cooks. It has a great selection of recipes that are easy to follow. I think this would be a great cookbook for anyone who enjoys cooking, you don't have to be a chef to use it. I like this cookbook and would recommend it to others and I would purchase it for a gift.
The Food Network Cookbook has an excellent variety of delicious recipes and is the perfect birthday or Christmas gift for anyone who enjoys or cooking.
