Very cleverly written, this is the story of a 12 year old girl who finds herself all too soon in a grown up world of lies and politics. The words that Frances Hardinge has strung together bring the pages to life in front of your eyes. The story does lag a bit for all the use of pretty language, but it manages to still accurately portray the fragile nature of truth, and the fickle nature of intent. I did not find this as easy to read as a "Roald Dahl" or even "J.K. Rowling", but it definitely deserves a chance to shine. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story!
Very well written, beautiful prose.
