This is a horrible book for an introductory course in Fluids. The chapters are not oranized very well, especially chapter 3. They rewrite many equations to different equivileent forms or compact, but don't really explain which forms to use or how to use them very well. Furthermore, the authors derivations of many equations are hard to follow. The example problems are either too easy, too difficult or just skip too many steps. End of chapter problems are incredibly challenging and many problems are poorly posed. Many references to diagrams force you to jump to different chapters, which i think are basically typos. Also you better hope that the professor that uses this book writes HIS OWN SOLUTIONS TO THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS. The instructors solutions manual, skips many many fundamental steps.Read full review

I have Frank White’s 1st edition, 1979, from my days at UC-Davis. Now I picked up the 5th ed. He added material. I like White’s teaching.
