I have had quite a few bug lights living in S NC. I myself prefer flowtron to the stinger brand as they seem to be better built. I really like the vertical grid system of this one. It stops many bugs from getting stuck in it to begin with but the ones that doo can be removed quickly with the air compressor or leaf blower even a straw if in a hurry. As with all bug lights look at it every few days and clean as needed to extend the life of the product and prevent fires. The vertical grid definitely cuts down on cleanings many times I just walk by and shake it a little. I plugged mine into a time to only run dusk till dawn a sensor could also be easily added. I went with the timer as mine is always in a dark shaded area.

Set up was easy, instructions clear, a few bugs were caught. It's been over a week and I've not seen any change. Very few bugs are caught in the Flowtron but they sure find me when I am in the yard. My dog was attracted to the bait so I don't think it is the problem. I will try another location but so far this has not been the relief I had hoped for. You will need a longer cord with this; the cord on this is 2 feet and instructions have you hang it 6' high.

I was gettin bit whenevr I'd go outside my house up until running my Zapper full time day and night. I use NO scent lure (supplied) but still I sit on my deck early damp mornings, afternoons and night time to withou ANY skeeter bites! Do yerself a favor and get this. It is a good investment, and it is well built... I use it to help kill flies also as I have it mounted next to a fly trap. It's hung from the deck roof at far end of the deck. "Zap Zap", flyin insects disappear! Sweep 'em off the deck every day. Tap/shake on the Zapper to keep it clean btw... MANY dead skeeters on the deck floor every mornin... Signed; happy In Ohio...

There are smaller wattage insect killers, but if you want it to do the job right the first time, don't waste money on a smaller unit. I was amazed at the pile of insects after the first night. It really does a good job. Does it cover an entire acre and a half? Who knows, but it does attract the bugs in my yard from a good distance. I am even thinking of another one to put on the other side of my workshop. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the plastic housing could be sturdier.

It does work great when it is working, but it seems to last about 2 years, not sure if that is good or bad, and not sure if it shortens the life with have too many dead bugs in it. But I am on my 3rd one, the seem to be the best for the money anyway.
