After a cameo from one of the Waverly sisters and Bay in The Peach Orchard, they return again to learn and grow from their experiences. Ten years have passed since Garden Spells so there is no Sydney-abusing hubby David (he died in prison shortly after she pressed charges against him.) and Hunter and Emma Clark-Mattheson are on an anniversary cruise. But this does not mean there aren't going to some sweet and spicy people to spark up the proceedings. Well-written and perfectly paced, this will be a perfect alternative to all those Nicholust Sparks books and any sequels he wrote to any of those self-doubt stories falsely advertised as romance stories to make gynophobics and misogynists feel better about fearing and hating women instead of seeking help for their irrational fear and hatred of them. None of the female characters talk to each other about love and romance only. Neither of the returning behaviors act the way Lexie (UGH!) does in At First Sight as new and old facets of their personalities get explored and revealed. Plus, in a case of Poor Communication Kills, keeping the reason about why Sydney left Bascom and why she doesn't trust Josh Mattheson a secret from Bay comes back to haunt her when the latter is driven home by her crush Josh and later sneaks out to meet him. Then, there's the case of Mariah Waverly's, Claire's daughter, new friend, Em but I'm getting ahead of myself. Read this story after reading Garden Spells as things in this story will make sense and you'll feel like you're meeting someone for the first in a long time if you do.Read full review
