This guitar is a good beginner guitar for someone . Reminiscent of the fender mexican strat models of the mid nineties only a lot lighter due to wood difference i guess? Bass wood over poplar. This is an indonesian made squire as opposed to an actual mexican made strat.but at half the price it makes a far better alternative than buying a china copy. The color choices are more illustrious and of course the pickups and neck quality will dominate on the china copy and fender comparison.satin type neck is another good natural feel. The tuners remind me of any less expensive guitar however the guitar does stay in tune way better than the cheaper china type "spin offs". The frets are not jumbo frets but more like 90's mexican strats so keep that in mind while buying.
I couldn’t find a good deal on the USA made Fender Stratocaster Deluxe Plus guitar that I wanted. So, I bought it in pieces and pairs then I put it together myself…First, I bought a 1991 USA made Fender Stratocaster Deluxe Plus rosewood neck with an old school Factory Double Roller Nut and Sperzel locking tuner; then, I purchased a 1991 neck plate with four screws; then, a 1991 USA Fender loaded Strat body; then Finally I bought a nice Fender Black Tolex covered hard-shell case to protect it. I love that guitar. In the long run I was rewarded for my patience because it sounds magical…My guitar is similar to the one Jeff Beck uses on stage. I saved money on the purchases plus got the guitar of my dreams…I’m a happy get fiddler…:)
This guitar is such an icon that every guitar player knows it well. The '96 model, marked with a 50th anniversary sticker, is another in a long line of these very serviceable guitars. The pickup routing on the '96 is often referred to as a 'swimming pool'. Many players consider this a tone killer, on the theory that more wood equals better tone. On the other hand, this routing allows the player to use any pickup combination. The build quality on the '96 is pretty decent, with a smooth finish and decent hardware. The pickups on this model have flat rather than stagged pole pieces, and sound even, but a bit glassy. The head stock has two string trees. Overall any strat player would feel at home on this axe.
very nice guitar, necks feels pretty good. goes out of tune when using the whammy bar, though. nice tones from the pickups, if you don't mind the hum in selector positions 1, 3 and 5(but that's single coil pickups for you). the humming gets louder when using a distortion pedal. the more distortion, the louder the hum. using two pickups in positions 2 and 4 stops most of the hum, and you get a good sound. despite the hum, the neck pickup provides a nice, deep tone. the standard strat is still a very good guitar, good enough to get the job done, especially for those who can't afford the higher end strats.
The guitar has a great feel, and plays well. Overall, i feel like i got a little more then i paid for. I will definately make a few changes to this guitar just to bring it up to par. However, i can't complain, the guitar itself is very nice for the low price.
