Over all its a great guitar. The nitrocellulose finish looks nice but wears through quickly. Some might see this as an issue but I like it. The pickups are a little hotter and darker than typical tele pickups, once again, I really like this but other people might not if their after more traditional tele twang. The neck is flat and fast with the jumbo frets. You can bend strings far and hard without worrying about fretting them out. This definitely suits my heavy handed playing style. My only real complaint is how cheap the tuning heads feel. They have considerable play in then with no string tension. Also, the bridge saddles have manufacturering burs on them than can cause strings to break. I took some light grit sandpaper and smoothed them out a little and this helped fix the string breakage. Eventually I'll upgrade to locking tuners and a modern six saddle bridge but for now the guitar does its job and it does it really well. If you're wanting a fender with "USA" on the head stock but don't have $1000+ to spend this is a great option and I highly recommend it.Read full review

so fender makes way too many TELECASTER- JUST TO CONFUSE US. tHIS ONE HAS THE MUCH DESIRED NITROCELLULOSE body finish, which lets the wood breathe and gives it a better tone- absolutely true.Stock pickups on most telecasters need to be changed but the ones on the highway ones are OK, not great. The necks- i have other, more costly teles by fender usa that have poor fret finish work and need a polish and crown. SO- its luck o the draw on that. The rest of the hardware is fine, you might need to switch out the saddles for brass compensated-not costly. Its a made in USA TElecaster for about 400 less than their American Std model.and dont ferget the nitro finish- the Am Std models have that dipped in plastic suffocating tone finish. buy a Highway one and spend a few bucks tweaking it. youll b happy you did!Read full review
Great price on a US Manufactured Fender Telecaster. Excellent neck shape and ease of play, Alnico 3 pickups, which were desirable to me, great US made tuners, and a nice gig bag. It is advertised as a no frills model and has a think lacquer finish. Actually allows the wood to resonate better. Its a high quality guitar and all you need for blues, country and rock. Everyone from Keith Richards to Garth Brooks plays one.
This Fender Telecaster plays like butter. The previous owner did a superb job of modifying it and it shows. It is an excellent guitar.

The American, Highway One Fender Telecaster is a great guitar for the price. I like the feel and play-ability of the Highway One more than the American Standards and some of the older ones have nitrocellulose lacquer, which I also prefer. This would be a great guitar for guitarists of any level to have in their arsenal. You can get a variety of tones between the two pickups as well.
