at least i think its 160 min. the movie itself is pretty funny. not a dull moment in this film at all. and if you think its dull then you have to pay attention to the details. some are subtle references to other works but they are done so in very funny ways. the movie it self is old but somehow the humor still makes sense these days. the main character is pretty funny too, which is important seeing that it is supposed to be a comedy right? other characters are funny in their own right and the dialogue exchanged between the characters is hilarious. is this movie good? well seeing that i tracked down this movie because i caught the ending parts when it aired on tv years ago, i would think so since it was memorable enough as a funny movie. enjoy.
This movie had me in stitches right from the very start. If you like silly, slapstick humor, then this is the movie for you. The "pop-up" panties scene was side-splitting, roll-on-the-floor-laughing quaility. The mock humor of Sharon Stone contrasting with how the lead detective character takes his job so seriously was very entertaining. Just the title alone is brilliant. Every time I would ask for this movie in a movie store, the clerks would correct me, saying it was either "Basic Instinct" or "Fatal Attraction" and I'd say, "Oh, this is a spoof of both movies combined." One clerk said he'd rent the movie based on the title alone. The acting was pretty good for no name actors, and they didnt' take themselves too seriously, just had a lot of fun with the roles. I really don't know how anyone kept a straight face throughout the filming.Read full review
I saw it years ago and loved it immediately. It's cheesy but very funny in a slapstick way. Plus, I am an avid fan of Grease 2, and Christopher MacDonald ("Goose" from Grease 2) plays Max Kelbo, a crooked but inept mechanic with his eyes on Ned Ravine's cheating wife, Lana Ravine. Another Grease 2 extra is Bernie Hiller (Boy Greaser) who plays a reporter who interviews Max Shady. The rest of the cast is splendid: Tony Randall (The Odd Couple) as the Judge, Sean Young (Ace Ventura "Lois Einhorn") as the treacherous and seductive Lola Caine, and Blake Clark (Home Improvement "Harry") as The Support Hose Bandit. It is cheesy but it's GOOD cheese!

At face value, entertaining. Diving deeper into the specific movie spin offs, even better.

Fatal Instinct is one of my favorite funny movies. Over the years I have watched it ten times. It is a parody of movies involving murder, including the movie Double Indemnity.
