I wanted to learn more about the classic Fairbairn-Sykes Commando dagger - from the initial design of the knife, background on the designers, who (which soldiers) used it, the different versions, etc. This book answered many of those questions. There was a lot of information on the various versions made throughout the years and information on knock-off as well with many photos and other illustrations to demonstrate the points being made in the text. As the old saying goes - a picture is worth a thousand words...and there are many wonderful pictures in this book. The one area that isn't explored in great depth is how the knife is used. Aside from that, it's a very thorough book about the history of this great knife.
Fairbairn & Sykes have impressive biographies. Beside developing this weapon they're instrumental in the origins of both modern SWAT teams and military special forces.
