A cult classic made during the 1930's involving the evils of drug use. Very funny during some parts, as it exploits and over acts the potential effects of drug use.I don't know if the making of the film was suppose to be serious at the time of production, but it does have some creative attributes. A great gift or party favor. It is a true classic!
Reefer Madness was originally titled Tell Your Children directed by Louis Gasnier 1936 High school students are lured by pushers to try some " reefer". Car wrecks, murder, rape, suicide, and madness. The film was intended for parents, to teach them about the evils of cannabis soon after the film was shot, it was purchased by producer Dwain Esper, who recut the film for the exploitation film genre. The film did not gained an audience until it was rediscovered in the 1970s. willtrib - EasyCityBooks NOLA
What a hoot!!! I had always heard about this movie back in my college days but never got to see it. The quality of the film is very poor but that just adds to it's character. An interesting look at some historical beliefs and how propaganda works...or doesn't work.
This movie is excellent for laughs. It's hard to believe the material the government put out against the "Monstrous Weed"....Dave O'Brien's acting as the crazed marijuana user was excellent and comical. I recommend.
