This is a pretty nice little camcorder. It could use a light for shooting in dark situations though. It takes clear and sharp video. It's very light and easy to hold. The menu is simple and anyone could use it. Has great zoom features. It saves files in AVCHD which is a nice feature. Here are the specs on a home movie of mine that's just few minutes long. This is on the full high quality setting. Hello I recently purchased this camcorder from ebay as an entry level HD cam despite mixed reviews I decided to go with it and I was pleasently surprised at the quality of the recordings I made despite so many poor picture quality reviews as with any camcorder that is not designed for low light use your recordings are not going to be the best, with that said as long as you use your brains and a little common sense your recording will be fine and as with all modles below the $500.00 bench price you want perfect HD recordings then plan on spending upwards of $1000.00 as for this one it has a plethera of funtions and also takes 2.0 mega pixle still and also has dual sd memmory card slots for up to 29 hours of recording time and seamlessly switches automatically for you without interrupting the recordings .How sweet is that ?No need to worry any longer about changing tapes and missing that special momment nor worry about the hard drive going bad and costing more to repair it than to buy a new one.this cams battery last for about 1and a 1/2 hours of continuous recording time. The popuot screen turns on the cam in 2 and a 1/2 seconds for the momment that just happen out of the blue has 3 zoom modes several shooting modes for situational sceens cloudy floresent ect... All in all a very affordable entry level camcorder that also takes still photos as well worth the moneyRead full review
I was actually quite impressed by the picture quality on this little (and I mean LITTLE!) camcorder. Although I haven't yet delved into all of its features yet, I was extremely impressed with its outdoor shooting capabilities, at least. I took some video at Lake Louise in Banff National Park a couple of weeks ago and was very surprised at just how crisp, clear, and breath-taking it appeared on my HDTV using an HDMI cable. Very good value for the money (IMHO).
nothing much to brag about this camera, everything is pretty on point especially for the price that i got ($139) pros: easy to use for anyone at any age. Great picture quality super reliable in low-light situation HD! duo-SD card slots (1 for photos/1 for videos) Cons: the lens make it hard to put the camera close to object/subject and have everything in the frame, meaning, the lens kinda give you the 1.4x zoom in already without zooming in. not a touch-screen, which is not that horribly wrong but would be easier to navigate if it does.
I did a lot of theoretical comparative shopping, and found that for the money this JVC GZ HM300 camcorder is ideal for my needs, which are good quality videos with image stabilizer, excellent zoom feature, night shooting, quick and easy menu options, compact and light weight, but mostly high definition quality, a rarity at that price level. I might have liked the 40gb hard disk model, but for my first camcorder I am quite satisfied with this unit, without having to spend the extra money for the hard disk. I think that JVC have good experience in that field and it shows with this unit.
