I came from briefly owning a fi-4340c, so figured the build quality of another Fujitsu pass-through scanner would be good - which it is. The main concern for me was finding software to run the scanner using Mac OS X (10.9 in my case), as virtually everything on the Web is geared towards drivers and software for Windows OS's. I found VueScan to be a little buggy on the Mac (although is fine with a CanoScan flatbed scanner I also use) and crashed quite a few times mid scan. However, I obtained ExactScan Pro 2.27.2 and this works perfectly on a Mac, with plenty of configuration for duplex scanning and going straight into creating multiple page PDFs. I had installed free SANE backend drivers at some stage, so this may help in the background as well on the Mac side. I have read that this scanner is not great with colour scans, as the gap between the two scanning bars is too wide. However, I have only been doing B&W and greyscale scans and the fi-4120c2 is excellent for this.Read full review
the 4120C scanner works OK. It was dirty and rusty, but it still works unlike my old one that gave out. Most of the difficult is that of the Operating System upgrade makes me turn it off and then on again after each scan. That is not the fault of the scanner, just age.

Well, you get what you pay for. Not the sellers fault, but this unit is really outdated. Originally designed to work with Windows XP, there are only a few ways to get it to work: 1) use a XP machine, 2) create a Virtual Machine within Windows 7 or 8 (cumbersome to create and it will only work in that environment) and 3) Buy a commercially available program on-line for $50 (no endorsement here) which will make it compatible w Win 7. Beyond that, the unit I got had a stipe, vertically through every scanned image and it would not scan multiple pages.. in short it was past its' useful life. Lesson learned...

This scanner performed as advertised. Initially I had problems installing the correct drivers for the scanner because of my operating system (Windows 7). Through trial and error I learned that the drivers for Windows Vista work for Windows 7 even though Fujitsu does not state this on their website. Once I got past that issue the scanner worked fined without problems. I have owned other scanners that cost more but do not perform as well as the Fujitsu 4120. I would recommend the Fujitsu 4120C scanner to anyone who has a need to scan large amounts of documents.
