Ren soon becomes attracted to Ariel, the daughter of the local minister who has led the campaign in the town to ban dancing. Ren finds that Ariel likes dancing also and the two form a relationship around their forbidden love of dancing. I bought this because I saw the original in the theater years ago and thought it was one of the best feel good dance movies ever. Even my mother loved it! I like that with a few acceptions, they pretty much stuck to the original story line, but with great updated dance sequences. Any person, of a younger generation than mine, who is crazy about dance (like I was and am) will love this movie. It's better than some recent dance movies, but I like to see each movie on it's own terms. If it makes me feel good and want to dance, it's awesome!!!!
