Denzel Washington is absolutely amazing, in this film. John Goodkan, is really good as well. A malfunctioning part on the plane causes havoc during a flight. Denzel is the pilot, he is drunk and high, during the flight. A higher power, God, is trying to get his attention. His life is out of control. Do not pause this film, it is worth watching all the way through.

Denzel Washington skillfully plays Whip Whitaker, an alcoholic and drug-using pilot. The plot is a little strained but the supporting cast carries it off to a surprisingly optimistic conclusion. Perhaps if Whip Whitaker's character weren't so exaggerated and demonic, his transformation might have been more believable.

I liked this movie but at first, I didn't like Denzel's character, Whip Whittaker, much. The movie focuses on the place crash and the way Whip was able to land the plane without a bunch of casualties. But afterwards, you begin to see that this man, as smart as he may be, had some serious issues. I didn't like him, until the last 40 minutes of the movie. I began to love and have more respect for Whip when he did the right thing. Doing the right thing, admitting the truth, will allow you to heal and build a new life. He was finally free. Now, he has the chance to live a truly happy life, build bridges and correct his mistakes. I liked this movie.
This movie starts out interesting in a hotel with a Airliner Captain with many vices, then transitions to the pre-flight check in a torrential downpour, next it's onto the flight deck. The flight scene was fantastic. All 4 minutes of it. Having all the attributes to be a good movie but nose dives into an unrelated woman who has a heroin habit. This is where the movie begins it's tail spin & never regains any altitude. Why the script called for a low life drug dealer, hooker etc as part of this script is beyond me. More flight scenes, even a few flight scene flash backs would of filled space better. Good thing I waited for it to come out on DVD. I was greatly disappointed. After it was over I wanted my 2 hours back. Don't waste your time. Better searching YouTube for Nat-Geo Airliner crashes.Read full review
