EA Sports had a rough transition into 3D games with very poor early entries. On most lines, they hit their stride on the 98 or 99 edition (98 in FIFA's case, after an awful 97). FIFA 99 managed to not improve upon the predecessor, with generic stadiums that had nothing to do with the stadiums being replicated. FIFA 2000 completely removed all stadium selection options, you play every single game in the same generic stadium with the same pitch. Gameplay changed very slightly with the through ball but dribbling, like FIFA 99, was worse than 98. We got slightly better graphics with a more variety in faces, but even the cover focus on the MLS was poorly done (everything is generic). FIFA kept hitting new lows with ensuing games but 2000 was the point where it made people know their arcade alternative to ISS/PES was done.Read full review
