The music contained in this CD was initially released on vinyl back in 1990, after Ferron had taken a break to turn inward, but these songs remain topical. Ferron brings the uniquely profound to acoustic guitar/solo artist folk music plus the broad multi-layered instrumentation of Chapman Stick and Viola: "White Wing Mercy sketches an eked-out growing-up' "Harmless Love" queries the possibilities of no-drama relationships; and "Higher Wisdom" poses eternal problems of choices and responsibility. Also check out "BOULDER," Ferron's newest release, on which some of these early tunes are re-formulated with arrangements acknowledging and embracing this creative performer's Ojibwa ancestry.
I'm sorry, if it's Ferron...it just doesn't get any better than that! Her music is poetry in lyric form. she is the best!
one song worth hearing, then forget about it. go on and finish trimming your toenails, or cleaning up the hairballs on the rug.
