I remember getting this game for my N64 years ago, as i admid being a big fan of futuristic racing games... I also recall my disapointment when it comes to Extreme -G not to even mention it`s sequel XG2. I don`t know if this thing called framerate can make the game, but it will certainly break the game when it moves contstantly something like only 0 -20 FPS. But, when i got to play thirt part of the series on GameCube that run 50 FPS, it was clear to me that i needed to take another shot with N64 -versions. But this time on NTSC/USA -versions, rather that those expensive poor amusing left over -versions that are called PAL -versions. That was a wise move, in fact so wise that i will never ever have to have a bad purchase because of the poor framerate, boarders, ugly color palette, lowered resolution, rised price tag, ect... Now, i have my Extreme -G, amazing Wipeout beater that runs constantly silky smooth 30 frames per second! Ok, enough about version differences, but be aware that if you chose PAL, you`ll get 99% of time inferior versions from all games! So, first Extreme -G game, the cult -classic that was released only on Nintendo 64 console, courtesy of the fact that on year 1997 there were no other format available that could run so technically demanding game than this 64 bit console. Amazing Forsaken -style lightning effects and weapons are shown all the time while driving thru courses wildest ever seen on any game at the time. Not only are special effects impressive, as is the sense of speed when you race on extremely detailed courses full of textures that are well ahead of their time and whitness life in form of sun, smoke, lava, fog... Originality sets Extreme -G apart from any other racing game, futuristic or not. For example, some of the ideas found in games like Zelda: OOT, were done here first, so understandably it´s incredibly hard not to recommend this game or it`s successors. Actually, Extreme -G3 that was done years later still seemed fress, while being nearly the same game as this, despite the lack of fogging effects on that title. As you would expect, there is no pop -up or drawn -in found in Extreme -G, and while some may say so what a big deal, -it`´s still achievesement when you consider that this game has same quality visually as Star Wars: Racer, game that was released years later and supported memory expansion pak. And yes, you can see behind the fog if you look carefully... All in all, graphically Extreme -G is a thrill, not only because the quality, but cuz the course desing is on league of it`s own, and we haven`t even mentioned about slick presentation of the menus despite having some controller pak oddities... Sound is techno, as usually on Wipeout -style racers, but unfortunately quality is not up to the par set by Tetrisphere. Bigger cartridge would have helped... But, we simply can not deny the fact that this is unique racing experience with surprisingly many courses, even if the playing control is later been surpassed by Wipeout 64 and of course Nintendo`s own F -Zero X. Truht is, that at the time of the release Extreme -G was the best futuristic racing game ever made, and if anything that is high recommention... Game has three (3) sequels that are also awesome, but your collection will never ever be complete without the first one, that sold around million copys for a good reason... Absolutely must buy for anyone who enjoys fastest racing games SCORE: 92%Read full review
Game doesn’t work. “Great condition” is just a gimmick. But hey, you get what you pay for. People should look elsewhere when buying games.

In the latest 90's I had this game with my N64, and I bought it again for 2 reasons: the good futuristic racing experience and the nostalgia of having it again. I would definitely recommend to by this game if you are bored of monotonous cars games. This game is some kind of Mario Kart 64, but with bikes instead of little cars, with missiles instead of tortoise shells, with bombs instead of bananas or cubes and a futuristic environment and electronic music. With out any doubt a "must have" racing game if you like retro games like "F-Zero X", "Mario Kart" or even "Rock'n Roll Racing" for the SNES :)
well i have the second game and i wanted to see how it had evolved. this definately displays an advance in the quality of graphics and level complexity. i love it. it is definately a game that you would have to have a liking for. i'm really glad i bought this game for the series.
