At once scathingly unsentimental and thrillingly romantic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the perfect date movie for smart couples,Eternal Sunshine is, at its core, generous and humane. I can't help but empathize with Joel's yearning or fall for Clementine's passion and confusion. The film is so generously overstuffed with ideas and jokes that it demands repeat viewing, Capturing the joys and pains of romantic obsession but to be fair it may require to be viewed more than once to understand the movie due to the fact that timeline of scenes are not in order, its not a straight forward chick flick more of a sci-fi romance but not cheesy sci-fi as the way the story line is handled very subtle but complex,i would strongly recommend the film and so would many others, the films title is in many polls which constantly comes up in the top 10 of all time just google the many movie databases that are available on the webRead full review
This film is a one-off, nothing else like it at all. About a man who finds out his ex-girlfriend has had the memory of him and their relationship erased from her mind, he decides to do the same himself, but has second thoughts during the process. Brilliant performances throughout, and inspired direction from Gondry, this is a hopeful story that tells us that relationships are never perfect, but can work, with a bit of effort. Just beautiful.
In this very touching and stylishly creative piece by Michel Gondry, we witness a future classic. It is unique, holds your attention persistently throughout, feeds your imagination and gets your mind asking the question "maybe we'll have to watch this a second time...?" I love it for its Mise-en-scène creativity from Gondry and wild storyline from Kaufman. There is no point in the film in which I feel like pausing it for another time. Truely memorable film. In my top 10 for sure.
First off, JC annoys me. I dont really like him as an actor. But he redeems himself for me in this film as he plays a serious role as himself, not some mad goofball. Its a clever plot too, to make you think. Thats not something alot of modern films do, mostly they are all glamour and little substance. This has acting, a plot and a twisty end that gives you food for thought for some time after - as well as the feeling that you wouldnt mind seeing it again (hence my purchase) - always the sign of a good movie !!!
