I purchased this double neck on Ebay for $550.00. Mine has bolt on necks and stock everything else. Pros: This is a very versatile instrument! I can go from 6 to 12 string in the same song! Unlike what some other's have written, I find the action is great on both necks (comfortable with no buzz.) Although it weighs 12 pounds, it is well balanced and comfortable, but you better have a good padded strap. Cons: Pickups are not the greatest. IF I used this instrument much, I would trade them out. The switches are also a bit cheesy Bottomline: A guitarist would not buy this as his/her main axe. Get a Les Paul or Strat for that. This guitar delivers what it's indended to: the ability to switch instruments without physically switching. I'm not sure I would pay full price for this, but a good used one is worth the money. If you have a good tube amp, then you can dial the sound into someething great. One suggestion: put strap locks on this. I hope this helps!Read full review
The necks of the guitar are not strong enought to support the tension of the strings. Epiphones sound OK, and when you compair the price to a Gibson, it's a steal. The real problem is the bolt on neck. Something should be done to beef-up the heel of the neck. The action of the freetboard is slow, and more time should be spent on the fit and finish of the freets. Cheep switchs are a problem also. I spent hard earned cash for this ax, and ask myself why! Only a few songs that we (OLD 2 NEW BAND)play, require a 12 string. So why keep this guitar? Well, guitars are like hammers. Some are used for roofing, some for 16 penny nails. I have ball-peen for my machine shop, and small hammers for tacks. I beliefe guitars are JUST tools, work-um, and put-um up wet, and sticky.... God bless all the guitar makers in the world! This is the coolest guitar ever made. Sure, Jimmy Page had a Custom Shop Gibson-proper axe but this is a truely accurate reissue by Epiphone. Really gets a crowd looking and listening. It has tone for days, plays great and is not all that heavy - about 12.5 pounds. The other guy that rated this guitar lower (Pastor somebody) says the bolt-on neck is weak, but mine (and this one too) has set necks, so I don't know what he's talking about. I would have paid 1600 bucks for mine but I got it brand new for half that. If you can find one of these for under a grand - get that puppy and you'll be glad you did.
