The Encyclopedia of United States Army Insignia and Uniforms by William K Emerson is the best single volume reference for identifying American military insignia I have seen. I am always somewhat reluctant to order reference books sight unseen especially when they are in the hundred dollar price range. This book exceeded my expectations. One feature of this book that I found particularly helpful is that many of the pictures are to scale, enabling the reader to physically match their insignia to the correct picture. If you are looking for a very good overall reference to US Army insignia, this one is well worth the money.
All that you wanna know 'bout development of US Armed Forces insignia - you'll find in this book! Total must-have for any collectors, historians, uniformologists etc.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This is probably the most in-depth book ever made dealing with U.S. army insignia. This telephone sized book is jam packed with information on various military insignia. Well worth the price and definitely an important asset in any collector/historian's reference library. Without it... well, its like going deer hunting without your rifle!
This brilliant, well-writeen, comprehensive book is the best one-volume treatment of US Army uniforms and insignia in existence. Collectors need this book!
