First released by RCA Victor in the spring of 1956, the debut album "Elvis Presley" is still a masterful work of genius. At the time of its initial release, no one artist had ever set the music world on fire quite like this young upstart performer born in Tupelo, Mississippi and later raised in Memphis, Tennessee. The original vinyl issue of this landmark album featured a total of 12 recordings, 5 of them being unreleased leftover songs from Sun records when RCA purchased Elvis' recording contract in 1955. These 5 songs - "I Love You Because", "Just Because", "Trying To Get To You", "I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin')" and "Blue Moon" - were superbly mixed with "Blue Suede Shoes", "I'm Counting On You", "I Got A Woman", "One-Sided Love Affair", "Tutti Frutti", "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)" and "Money Honey" to create and shape a unique moment in musical history. This CD reissue is enhanced with 6 bonus songs; "Heartbreak Hotel", "I Was The One", "Lawdy, Miss Clawdy", "Shake, Rattle And Roll" "My Baby Left Me" and "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You", thus showcasing the early Elvis song line-up at its most dynamic. All 18 songs are remastered for crystal clear sound. Combine these songs with that unmistakable classic album cover, utilizing a brilliant mix of black and white with pink and green, and you have an album that has truly withstood the test of time, and then some. Elvis would have an amazing 21-year career to follow through August 1977. "Elvis Presley" is not just a classic Pop album, a classic Rock album, a classic Country album; it is simply a classic album - period.Read full review
Rolling Stone magazine's top 500 album. The album that started for Elvis. A album not a collection of all his works that are massively released.
