At first glance the book assumes that you have a strong background in algebra and calculus and is difficult to understand for those who's background is minimal. Then you get to the practice questions at the end of each section. They solidify the information and make learning it possible. In all, I think the author can write the literature portion in a little more user friendly mannor, but I have spend some time studying from the book and have learned quite a bit about linear algebra.
The book was laid out in an easy to understand manner. In the answers section there are a good mix of easy any hard examples. I would have liked more answers given at the back of the book. My instructor closely followed the sections of the book so I was able to review what was taught in class by looking in the book. Overall one of my better Math texts.
This textbook is excellent. The information is presented clearly and concisely. Math is a difficult subject and this textbook makes it a lot easier to understand. There are answers in the back of the book to a lot of the exercises as well. I strongly recommend this book.
The examples are poor, and the explanations are hard to follow. The only thing worse is the Solutions Manual, which doesn't give the solutions to all the odd problems like all other math solutions manuals I've owned have. It only gives the ones that are easy, and thus the ones you are least likely to need.
This class is boring but the book was a good buy. When I say this class is boring, I mean even the teacher falls asleep. Seriously boring boring boring.
