This lite greatly assisted me in keeping my dogs inside my fenced in backyard. I live in the country on some acreage and my dogs constantly were digging out along the metal fence, toward the bottom at various locations. I installed the lite monitor onto my fence and the sound from the newlilite connected to the electric fence greatly helped to detect when fence was working. I really like the flashing from the lite which can be seen at nite from the window in the house. Would highly recommend to everyone. Ray in Madera, Ca.

The case is pretty decent, seeming water resistant, little tough mounting to t-posts without their brackets or in my case I used zip ties. Beyond that a capacitive discharge fence or any fence system that charges a capacitor will discharge when coming within reach of a ground source - basically "snap" and a few seconds of recharge and then "snap" again. These units actually use an weak at best "air gap" popper or whatever they call it sound device with is nothing more than an electrode in one end of a pvc tube and a wire in the other end/cap that you adjust to get the largest arc you can achieve so you can still control the animals. So imagine if you will I have 1/8" gap and it is "snapping" completely discharging the capacitor until an animal gets closer that the 1/8" gap and assuming ground is moist, fur isn't too thick, animal is more conductive than the air gap in the light, "pop" the animal gets hit - good in theory! Install two of these and one cancels the other out, the pulse will always take the shortest route to ground so if you have five miles of fence, you can only have one lamp on and one circuit/fence charger - in addition to a weak at best distance of the light illumination. Another issue is moisture, the air gap setting is done with a wire and screw (goofy - seems arcing would eventually require regular maintenance), if your dealing with 1/8" air gap adding heat, moisture, etc to the equation, you can find yourself setting the air gap pretty wide and on a wet humid day under and smiling back to the barn under the pretense - no flash - no shock - WRONG, things dry out and you need to close the gap up pretty tight and I have a 200 mile charger 15 joule 200 mile Zareba that will put an Elk on the roof... Bottom line, they are novelty item for small area perhaps and anything that requires discharging the fence charger in the days of LED's seems stone age, whichever one has closest air gap / easiest path to ground will discharge capacitor and any other lights on same line will fail to light... So for those with small area, decent charger that isn't looking for a "fire and forget" installation, these are it, but for my dollar, I wound up giving them away to neighbors to get opinions and they pretty much hang on fences, some work, some not.Read full review

This is a VERY well made light. It is a handy way to see if the electric fence is working. One glance and you can tell. It is as handy as a pocket on a shirt. The only thing disappointing is that it has a projected life span of approximately one year.

Got light okay and would work prosable as they say... BUT.. i have a Gallagher fence the can sence current los due to minor shorts. When this happens the Joules are increased in compensation to maintain fence voltage. Due to the current draw of this light, my electric fience unit thinks there is a fault and ramps up the voltage to max. Normally the fience runs at 6 Joules. this light makes the energiser run at max 25 joules and probably fry the internal capaciters. Tried it without the Knocker. Didnt help. It must suck the life out of a conventional non regulating energisers. For Sale: Does anyone what a second hand unit. Only done 5 minutes operation! Any thoughts on how it could be made to work welcomed. Rob from NZ
