I bought this book for a class, but I ended up liking this book. I like that the author does a good job of explaining theorists in a manner that I can understand. It's very easy to pick out main points of each of the theorists. The bad thing about this book is that it is so detailed that a lot of the information provided in this book was uneccessary in my opinion. The book is misleading since there are not eight distinct theories. The last one does not provide his own theory but takes from others, plus the author likes this theorist. Altogether, this book provides a good starting point for anyone starting out in learning anything about religion or anthropology.
