I have looked, tried, and tested a select number of smaller new technology to mount a particular rifle which has its rail farther down line of the barrel than most rifles. I needed something that would be quickly easy to spot target with both eyes open and have an extremely accurate tight group ratio at distances from 25 yards to 259 yards regardless the background colors etc. After weeks of research and personally doing in store practice mount with rifle draw and quick target acquisition, the EOTech XPS2-0 was the best choice. It was easy to mount, bore sight, and range test from 50tds. to a 100+ yards with a spotter and getting black circle 3 shot hits in the 4" 5" or less pending ammo used on each test fire round. If it is good enough for military/law enforcement work it is good enough for me. The larger red circle with a center dot made acquiring my target much faster with 95%+ kill ratio. This product has more brightness settings, longer battery life cycles, water resistant Argon filled double glass lens with shock resistance to.50 caliber rated recoil. Can also couple with a 3X magnifier since it is shorter than most red scopes, with a 600 hour constant on battery cycle using a $12.50 A123 Lithium battery found at most any store. I have used Burris Fast Fire and Aimpoint Patrol which are also very good products, but this EOTech gives you the cake and eat it to when needing fog proof and rugged equipment in the field regardless the weather conditions for a clear shot.Read full review
The EoTech is a great dependable sight and you can acquire your target very fast, even with both eyes open. The outer ring is fairly grainy looking, but EoTech say's it's supposed to look that way, and to concentrate your focus on your target. I like the long battery life and prefer the auto shut-off that's selectable in either 4 or 8 hour. My only negative remark is why they have to be so expensive. There are loads of comparable sights out there that have great optics and reticles, most of them just don't have the long battery life. The old saying will always be true: "I'd rather have great sight and not so great rifle rather that a expensive rifle and a cheap sight". REMEMBER: Gun safety first !!

Great sight. Put the target in the ring for quick targeting, use the 1 moa dot for more precise control. Rugged and solid. Yes, you have to turn it on to use it, but that isn't a problem for me.
