One of my favorite series from the 70's, next to The Rockford Files. I was very young at the time, but I believe they had re-runs of the show. I was only 6 in 78, so I don't know. All I know was this series was one of the best. It had it action, drama, and suspense. I recommend it to anyone, especially those that want to go into the police or fire service. It's amazing how this show caught on, especially to a younger audience like me at the time. It is amazing to see how emergency field medicine has grown, and the changes that have happened since this show aired. An excellent show and each series is reasonably priced.

This is a great show from the 70's the dawning of Emergency Medical Services. While not exactly accurate and tending to be outdated by today's standards it is still a great show to watch. Would not suggest starting at season 4 but to go back to the original season and go from there. The characters are down to earth and fun loving guys. Yes some of the lines are cheesey and all but that was the 70's so innocent. Some of the story lines are good while again some of them are off the wall. It is a mix of not only an emergency medical team in its beginnings but a fire department trying to adjust to the new demands. The hospital scenes are right out of what reminds me of General Hospital in beginning. Interesting to see how much information was actually shared out loud or over the radio too. Yes there are times you just shake your head. If you enjoy older shows like CHiPs, MASH or anything from that generaion of television this would be a good purchase. Nothing too graphic for those with light stomachs or worried about the children seeing it, we love this TV show and have collected all the seasons.Read full review
I remember this when it was on tv. I watched every episode and thought it was great. Emergency was the first show that had real life drama of being a EMT. Gage & DeSoto where great, the characters where not portrait as phonies, but men who new their job and serving the communitee as best as they could. I'am just sorry the show didn't last longer then five seasons. I continue to watch and rewatch all the episodes as much as i can. Emergnency was one of the best tv real life dramas in their time.. I recently had the opportunity to meet Randolph Mantooth (one of the actors in the show) at a Emergency Medical Service Conference in Minnesota. This show played an intstrumental role in how EMS is today. When I was a little girl, I remember watching Emergency and wanting to work as an EMT/Paramedic. I wanted the series and can't wait until April 2010 when the 6th and 7th season comes out.
This was a Christmas gift for my husband and he loves it!!!
