This broad concept picks up where The X Files leaves off. There are no more doubts about the question, Are We Alone? Now, we have to take a deeper look into the psychology and agenda of ETs. The series constantly evolves showing that there are good and bad in every living species in the universe. While offering Humans great advances in technology to make life on earth better, there is the flip side that is also dark and perilous. That wherever life in the universe exists, buyer beware of its consequences. I do believe we have never been alone and this series unfolds the possibilities and issues that maybe one day we might need to address.

Starting off well, the series quickly becomes a standard SciFi mess, missing what the creator wanted to say and do. My one pet problem with the series is how Leni Parker and Anita Le Selva characters were used so badly. The opens in one direction but quickly becomes the standard don't thrust anyone who's not one of us, nonsense, they all have a secret agenda against man, foolish. I knew Roddenberry's work and this wasn't one after the third episode. So try and enjoy it, The story was to be about two people coming together a create a great community. The Taelons becoming more like us and we finally grow up. But what we get is the same old story.

only part thru watching, the benefits of dvd. yes streaming offers same watch when you want but streaming is also bend on "if its in the inventory and do they still have a partnership with that studio" very interesting story concept and character arcs but one of the main reasons i got it was this is gene roddenberry view on how humanity would react to alien first contact and honestly if or when this happens in reality. i see this is how it would go it is living up to my view of it

Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict first aired in the autumn of 1997 and ran for 5 seasons on Paramount's UPN Network. The main premise is that an alien race called "Taelons" have come to Earth, and pursue a seemingly benevolent agenda by providing technical advances ending all disease and famine; nonetheless, there is skepticism by some that the aliens have a hidden, sinister motive. This 5-disc DVD set gives us the first 22 episodes, which introduces the main characters Will Boone (Kevin Kilner), Lili Marquette(Lisa Howard), Ronald Sandoval (Von Flores) and Taelon "companion" Da'an (Leni Parker). This first season is regarded by many (including myself) as the best of the whole series, on account of the interesting storylines and multi-dimensional character portrayals; subsequent seasons suffered from dumbed down, action-oriented plots with superficial "eye candy" characters, reflecting an attempt by the producers to draw more (and probably younger) viewers. In the end this was a failure, the show's ratings consistenly fell, and fans resented popular characters being killed off - as well as the increasingly soap opera-like plot twists. Still, one can enjoy these excellent first season episodes and wonder what might have been, had different decisions been made. Regarding the DVDs themselves, the image quality and audio are excellent; I was very impressed with the razor-sharp digital transfers and theater-quality sound. Sadly the DVD extras are nothing special; only 6 episodes have running commentary (and only 3 have actors from the show) and the commentaries themselves are forgettable; none of the participants had seen ANY of these episodes since they were originally made, and had little recollection of making them, so their remarks are often limited to banalities like "look at my hair in that scene" or "can you believe those clothes?" Minor criticisms aside, it is great to finally have these episodes available, since legal wrangling had held up their home-video release for many years. I really liked this show when it was first broadcast, and although fondly-remembered TV shows are sometimes disappointing when watched years later, for me seeing these first EFC episodes was like meeting old friends again. Highly recommended.Read full review
