I live at 4000 ft, and the generator works well up here. You lose a little power from the 3500 watt (true rating)so a bit over 3000 watts seems about right.. It's 120 volt receptacles allow for full output when in the 120 volt only switch position. It will only be half that when using the 120/240 volt receptacle, and the switch in the 240 volt position. Perfect for running high amp input 120 volt appliances. It will out perform a Honda EU 3000 when trying to use a 120 volt inverter stick welder. Those are $2000.00 Just flat out more power, and clean enough to run it very well. Also I think the build quality is very good. Nice design too. Also ran my Esab 2000 Caddie mig on 240 volts, and it did pretty well for the size of the generator. I have a MQ 6000 Multiquip for higher amp things like my well pump. It will not be as portable as this unit, so I will keep it, and my Yamaha 1000 inverter too. Fills a nice void in my lineup. Change the oil a whole lot at first to keep the Metal break in bits out of the engine. Starts one pull , and use non-alkky gas in all my smaller engines.. Run the carb dry too. No need for gas stabilizer because I will rotate it out by using it..Read full review
Having recently moved to the southern mid-west, we decided to get a generator in case of tornado's or ice storms. We needed one cover our basic needs of a fridge, small freezer, microwave, t.v., or radio, a couple of lights, and cellphone chargers. 4500 peak watts is plenty for these. After shopping around and doing a little research, we found that DuroMax met our needs without breaking the bank. The product arrived within 4 days of purchase, (WOW!), and assembled very easily. After putting oil and gas in, it started right up on the first pull. It appears to be very well made, and though a bit noisy up close, a normal volume conversation can be had about 20 ft away. It also has a 12v battery charger which can come in real handy. I haven't used it in an emergency yet, but I have used it for power equipment, and it's never failed to start on the first pull.Read full review

This generator was purchased for emergency backup in case of power failure. I have not had the chance to use it for power failure, but have tested it by powering some tools, i/e large bandsaw and other items and it has no problem running them at full capacity. The most recognizable feature was the ease of starting and the almost vibration free operation. This generator seems to provide all the requirements of a backup power source. So far, A+ in all respects. Started on 2nd pull of the start cord.
This is by far the best generator I have ever had.I have had the generator for two years now. My wife can even start by hand with no problem. Has always started on the second pull, sometimes the first. Great on gas. Used it hunting this year for three weeks, and never had to add gas. Ran it to charge the batteries in toy hauler, and for extra night lights.Just remember to start, and stop, with the breaker in the off position.I don't see how any one can go wrong with this unit. I waited to wright this review because I wanted to make sure that I was happy with the unit.
