This is my second PC belt sander as the first was stolen after ten years. I mostly use to sand floors in my apartment buildings. Drum sanders are great, but between rental costs and the idiots I hire who screw up the surface by over-sanding, i’ve found the belts work better for me. The finish is adequate, if not to professional standards. Anyhow, the 4x24 has the capacity to really remove fast with a 40 grit. The smaller 3” and 18/21 inch belts just don’t do the job. When the aforementioned idiot stole my old one, I immediately bought another. That’s how much I like it.

Well after my old 3 x 21 belt sander died on me, it was only about 35 years old, I felt it was time to up grade and get a bigger machine. Being the Porter Cable fan that I am this was a no brainer for me. The 4 x 24 is a beefy machine that so far has handled everything I can throw at it. I really like the variable speed control. The weight is also nice so I let the machine do all the work I just keep it moving and on track no bearing down needed. It has power to spare does not bog down and the 1 1/2" shop vac hose connected right up the the dust bag connection, so for those bigger sanding jobs, no dust. I'm very happy with the tool. Belt changing is a snap and so far has run right on track with very little tracking adjustment needed.
Overall a great heavy duty sander. Great balance and power.
