But not even close to the original in any way shape or form, except for maybe the cast. The humor in this movie is funny in some parts but in other parts it just gets annoying. The best aspect of this movie is how well they did with cloning Jeff and Jim into teenagers. There are also appearances from several decent actors throughout which made this movie better but I certainly won't include this into my DVD collection that's for sure... It could have been much worse but I think this is as good as it gets at trying to recreate characters from the original. I just hope they don't remake the original altogether. Anyway, its an okay movie but something I could not watch over and over. On the other hand, I can watch the original over and over and never get sick of it. I think its funnier to see adults act like children not teenagers act like children. A few good examples: Pee Wee Herman & Ernest. Good actors + adult characters acting like children = funny. This leaves me to conclude that this was created just to milk us of money, there is nothing great about this second installment whatsoever, the only decent aspect is the finishing credits. After the end credits roll you begin to wonder how dumb hollywood executives are to approve of such a movie. Just because the first did well doesn't mean this one will and when the cast is replaced from the original all hope fails in creating "great" entertainment for us all. I understand that this is a prequel but I would have rather seen a sequel then this. Slightly entertaining and decent actors but it just doesn't flow like the original... nothing beats the original classic masterpiece!Read full review
As a prequal to one of the longest standing box office hits - Dumb And Dumber, one can't expect a better comedy, however this film has it's own original ideas and build-ups to the characters of Dumb And Dumber. The two school clowns Harry Dunn, (Derek Richardson) and Lloyd Christmas, (Eric Christian Olsen) get stuck in the middle of a scam by the principal, (Eugene Levy) and his wife as the assistant. They plan to make the perfect getta-way, however the idea is thwarted when Lloyd manages to mistake the evidence as a treasure chest.
liked the fact that an attempt was made at creating a sequel to one ver funniest movies of all time: Dumb and Dumber. Unfortunately, this one dis-appoints like most sequels. Immitation is the highest form of flattery, but this fiascal of a re-make was actually quite embarrassing. Give the actors lots of credit for trying to pull this off, but the orginal is so much better, that this proved to be an utter flop. Has a few good laughs, but not one of my favorites. Rate this one 3 stars ***
Very funny prequel. Worth it & worthwhile; great lead-ip to "Dumb & Dumber" & sadly under-rated. Personally I love it & recommend a peek.

This prequel to the smash hit comedy dumb and dumber is not as good as the first one. but it's still funny. i really enjoyed the film. i thought that they got good actors to play younger versions of Lloyd and harry. a lot of people don't like this film but for what it is it's a good watch. the acting is good, story is good and the comedy is good. this movie is cinematastic. if you have not seen this movie then i recommend you do. until next time have a cinematastic day
