The traps are built very well but will need worked (coated) so they won't rust easy. I plan on killing some big gofer rats, and a coon that keeps killing my chickens. I have a hole he likes to stick his head in! won't be doing that much longer. The traps are a little small if you plan on trapping larger animals like beavers, but probably would work for musk rats. I tried the trap out and it closes stupid fast with a snap! Keep your hands clear, and if your not used to messing with traps might use rope to help the first few times on holding tension on spring. Money well spent and I think once they have served there propose, I'll hang them on the wall for looks ;-}

Product was impossible to use and instructions were useless. Not pleased with it at all. Only thing that got caught I this trap was my husband's hand when he was trying to set it.

These #110 traps work very well, if used properly to trap mountain beavers. I recommend that the "trigger" mechanism be turned away from the hole, so that the mtn beaver has to walk a little further into the trap before tripping it. I also recommend purchasing the "tool set". It makes squeezing/setting the trap a LOT easier, as the two pcs are difficult to squeeze together. This in turn makes removing the animal from the trap a LOT easier.

Sounds strange but true but everyone should have a few small traps around for emergencies. You can even set them up as a basic trip wire as a warning perimeter at camp. These traps are are very effective but not easy to set without tools unless you learn to use leverage and/or have exceptional grip strength. If you are concerned about this, invest in a 'setting tool' or use a clamp to help you.

Although these are the first traps that I have purchased. I am glad to have gotten such a good deal. They are everything that I expected, and for the purposes that I needed them for, they are perfect for the job. I cannot speak for them on a professional multi-season level, because I am not nor plan to be a professional trapper. But for the occasional user, these will be great! Be sure to watch as many videos and read as many manuals as you can, so you are prepared to properly season and use them. Good Luck
