It is a great World War Two movie. The Characters look very very similar to the actual real life people. It bring the unknown suspense of Hitler's last couple days in his bunker through through eyes of his personal secretary. I watched this movie in my German Class because the movie is completely in German but it is translated perfectly into English. Don't let the German steer you wrong because the translated subtitles are easy to understand. Overall, great suspense and very accurate historical step by step events that lead to the final suicidal finish and the collapse of the Third Reich. I recommended this movie to people who enjoy WW2, suspenseful and dramatic movies and/or want to feel what it was like to brainwashed and trapped in 1944 Berlin with Hitler and his top superiors.
Being something of a history buff I enjoy movies about WWII, but it has to be done right. I don’t care for propaganda filled films and Downfall is pretty close to being propaganda free. Because of that, some critics have bashed the movie because it shows Hitler and even some SS as human beings rather than foaming at the mouth mad men. The movie illustrates the complexity of Hitler’s personality, at times showing what seemed to be compassion and thoughtfulness. But true to his nature the movie also showed his ruthless side. It also brings out the frustration in Hitler’s Generals staff trying to cope with his delusions of still being able to win the war; but yet remaining absolutely loyal. The actor who plays Hitler (Bruno Ganz) does an excellent job and looks so much like Hitler its scary. Downfall is spoken in German, which adds to the authenticity. The acting is as good as anything Hollywood can put out and the cinematography is very well done. Downfall brings out the denial, desperation and impending doom, as seen through the eyes of Traudl Junge, Hitler’s secretary. Most of the film’s is shown through her perspective but also takes a few peeks from other points of view. Often the scariest movies are the ones based on fact. Downfall is that but also sorrowful, riveting, and at times will make you angry. But it’s for those reasons this movie is worth is so good. Downfall is a must see.Read full review
I was more than happy when I recieved my copy of this movie. I poped it in my dvd player and watched the whole thing with barely blinking... Due to constantly reading the subtitles. I really wish it came in an English version, or better yet if i understood German. Lol. Overall great movie wish the Germans won in the end , but we cant change that. Id reccomend this flick to anyone who appreciates ww2 or the NSDAP hisrory.

This movie is awesome, it depicts the dark, and gloomy last days of Hitler and Nazi Germany in a way that gives the movie a dark undertone. The actors portrayals of their real life counterparts are almost spot on, which really gives the movie its spot on, accurate portrayal of those events. Possibly one of the best WW11 movies about the last days of Germany out there!

This is an excellent movie on the last 10 days of Hitler's reign. Bruno Ganz portrayal of Hitler is the best I have ever seen. He presents Hitler as both the fuhrer, and as a person. The other actors were also excellent as well and it presented the surreal atmosphere said to exist in the bunker and with the people that surrounded him. How this did not win an Oscar(s) is perplexing. Very intense scenes both inside and out of the bunker gives the viewer a raw look at an event in time. Overall one of the best historical dramas ever made.
