This receiver worked perfect. Have to use as parts. AT&T is no longer allowing non HD boxes to be activated for Directv. If you have tree issues and need non HD. Capacitors went bad in my receiver and keep shutting down. Swapped them out and now I have TV with original Receiver ID and Card.

It's hard to beat the price and this item was UNactivated as advertised. Patience will be required with DirecTV as this is not their normal workflow. You'll need to explain that you bought this item online and that they'll need to use the Receiver ID to find the original purchaser (I didn't tell them to do this but that's what they told me once they figured it out). They need to verify that it is not on lease - those cannot be activated which is the risk of buying outside of DirecTV (google search "activate used directv receiver" for details). It took ~30minutes for me working with DirecTV to activate this receiver (no - online activation didn't work) and once the agent figured out what exactly was going on he was able to get it activated. Since this is an additional receiver on my account it added $7 to my monthly bill, YMMV. Other than the usual challenges with customer service at a large company this was a pleasant transaction. The item works exactly as advertised (I'm using an 18" round dish, non-SWM). It appeared completely new - remote + batteries, access card and receiver all included.Read full review

Item was brand new and included a brand new access card/remote. With just a simple call to DIRECTV the box activated with no issues. Just make sure that the DIRECTV representative enters the proper receiver ID# and access card# or the box will not activate properly.

You need a new one and not one that was rented, but not returned to Directv. This was the second one I got off ebay because the first one was rented and Directv would not activate it. It works great in my RV with the family package for the grandkids. You want get HD with the small non SWM dish, but I wanted a foldable roof mount. The kids don't mind. For an older receiver, this thing is small. Just the right size for an RV. Not a heat problem either. This model will let you get HD with a SWM setup, but that dish is bigger.

Looks like brand new, and, unlike many, it comes with a card and power cord. Be advised, you can't buy any of these and think you will get free tv...DTV has to fire it up.
