While no longer sold, the entire downloadable effects pedal library is free and is available for IOS and will operate on newer Ipads and Ipods. There's seventy or so effects pedals that are active and available for download. I've had a lot of luck using these pedals to download any effect type that's a little bit of an oddball and not worth buying. The pedal effect patches download quickly. I find that they don't sound bad at all and they work well with traditional pedals. IOS updates aren't likely to keep arriving for these, but there's an easy work around by using an IOS version that will work with the Istomp system and then not updating it. I use an old mini Ipad and an Ipod touch. It never really captured much of a market, but there's a lot of fun effects that you can download for it.

Digitech's iStomp essentially is a platform for loading Digitech's wide-ranging FX developed for hardware devices like the RP series into a stompbox form factor, one at a time. In other words, this is not an effect pedal per se; at purchase it's an empty vessel into which FX can be poured. The FX on offer, almost all free via download to Digitech's Stompshop app, cover all the major FX classes for electronic instruments: preamp models, reverbs and delays, pitch shifters and other modulation devices, and so on. The quality of the various FX is generally good to excellent. The device lists at about $150 retail, and can be found used on eBay and elsewhere for around $50. At that price, considering the sound quality and variety of available FX, it's a real bargain. You will need an IoS device (i{Pad or iPhone) to load FX into the iStomp using the supplied cable; the cable uses the connector designed for the iPhone 4, so you'll either need an older iPhone or iPad, or a conversion cable. (I run the Stompshop app from digitech on an iPad 2.) If you use a cable to convert the iphone 5 and up Lightning cable to iPhone 4 format, buy the one made by Apple, which is the only one Digitech supports; it's not a bargain at $30, but it works, while competing products by other manufacturers don't.Read full review

The Digitech Istomp pedal is a great alternative to regular pedals due to it's ability to be a chameleon. You can load many different "pedals" on it via Iphone, however there is to be a new Apple OS "11" which may impede this ability, which could render your pedal software to be changed. I personally own 5 on my pedalboard and love them. Good luck with your decision to purchase, once again I am very pleased.

When I first saw this on the internet, automatically I thought that must have been a ploy. Because the price is lower than many pedals on the market. But when it arrived, I started to shuffle between effects like crazy, now I'm thinking of getting myself 3 more of this to build my setup as I can not rate any of the effects lower than 5 stars... BUY it. Absolutely no chance of regret...
These are not notch effects all free now the pedal it self has analog dry thou and most of the effect sound great.
