*** (1) PRICE: The DD400 is cheap, new or used. I bought my used DD400 for under $20 shipped. This is a great value, maybe an unbeatable value when other delay pedals sell for much more. *** (2) FEATURES: (2.1) The DD400 has basic delay features. (2.2) The pedal has an amusing "Hold" feature. The "Hold" feature works as follows: Turn the knob to "Hold", hold the pedal down, play a riff, release the pedal. (2.3) The pedal has two outputs for stereo output. *** (3) MISFEATURES: (3.1) The pedal does not have any echo or reverb feature, so the item description is inaccurate. Delay, yes; echo, no. (3.2) The "Hold" time is not long enough to record a long series of notes. (3.3) The plastic housing keeps costs down, but the Behringer plastic feels soft and breakable. (3.4) The delay is digital and lacks the analog decay and sound. *** (4) FAULTS: The infamous Behringer blue light is blinding.Read full review
Great solid, dependable delay pedal. DO NOT GET IT FOR THE SAMPLE & HOLD (Loop) FEATURE! It DOES loop, so dont get me wrong. However, the sampling is basically TOTALLY UNCONTROLABLE (rate/timing, decay, attack-NOTHING can be controlled), roughly half a second or so long, and just pretty damn useless. I seriously think its only there to fool a few people into buying the pedal for the wrong reasons. -That is really the only thing worth mentioning (otherwise the pedal is GREAT for the money-solid construction, simple use, good control setup, etc) so since its the only negative I gave it a good review overall. Really, if you know behringer, its what you expect: basically a cheaper copy of someone else's slightly better product(Digitech in this case)
Decent pedal. Im a little worried about the fact that its made out of plastic as it will be near a lot of feet and i cant control if those feet will stumble over it or things like that. The tone of my guitar seems diminished when using this. It is somewhat easy to figure out, but the main confusing bit is the "feedback" setting. this controls the amount of times it repeats the note, but after you figure that out its pretty simple to figure out. The "hold" feature is nice, but doesnt really hold for very long. you can get one note out of it and doesnt really help alot if you're trying to use that to make an ambient swell or things like that. if it was lost/stolen i'd grab maybe a boss digital delay or digitech digital delay. it is a bunch of fun to play around with though. probably wont use it professionally though.Read full review
I bought this pedal solely for use at home, piddling around and occasionally recording and for my purpose there is absolutely no reason to spend a dime more on a delay pedal. This one delivers everything I want and need and the only negative, durability, isn't an issue. This pedal is an excellent value at the price point. I have read other reviews that trend negative but it is my belief that those consumers expected a $200+ delay pedal for less than $50 which is ridiculous particularly since I suspect most of the negative reviewers aren't playing at a level that merits one of the higher end units (else they'd have saved their pennies and bought one those in the first place...) The pedal is plastic. That's the only thing remotely negative I can say about it. It is my feeling that if you are gigging enough that this would be an issue then you need (and can afford) one of the mid-range pedals (Boss, etc.) for $100 more and shouldn't be bargain shopping in the first place. For everyone else (the curious, home recorders, people who don't play out much) you'll be well-served by this unit. If you are a professional looking for professional gear, go buy professional gear. If you are a snotty little poseur more concerned with image and flash than functionality and, you know, actually playing, you'll hate this, your friends will make fun of you, and you should just go "borrow" mom's credit card and buy the one you really want (with the neat paint job) or better still, hang yourself. ...but if you're just looking for a good delay effect for playing with your friends, doing some home recording or just piddling around, you can't beat this item and you'd be foolish to spend more. Note: The plate that you step on for switching is mounted on two spring loaded hinge pins. Press these in to remove the plate and access the battery compartment. You DO NOT need to unscrew anything. Don't ask why I mention this.Read full review
Good quality pedal. I'm officially sold on behringer pedals now. This is a Boss DD-3 clone, and a damn good one at that. No difference in sound between this and my friend's DD-3. People whine about these being made of plastic but what they don't tell you is that they are made of the same plastic that they make NASCAR helmets out of. If it's good enough to protect your head in a car crash, it's good enough to step on from time to time. Don't listen to all those idiots who think the quality of your tone is proportional to how much your rig costs. Behringer pedals make those guys look like stuck up fools.
