Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Signal Processors/Rack Effects
I've had the opportunity to try out a few of the most expensive and top-rated vocal processors over the last two years so I can tell you that this one is the best for the money. The Live 5 is larger than most and heavier. I've had to design and build my own pedal board to accommodate it and and a few other pedals. I play only acoustic guitar but through in a ukulele and banjo on occasion and the Live 5 has no problem generating the selected harmonies with either. Since my vocal effects are handled through the sound system I don't used those included in the Live 5. Nor do I use the guitar effects. These are, though, a great addition for those who WILL use them and will pretty much eliminate the need for extra pedals. Changing them on the fly is more of a challenge which is why I use external effects. The Live 5 does allow you to go through one channel on a PA mixer for both instrument and vocal which can be a big plus if you're "channel challenged" like I am at venues on occasion. As with all of the other "harmonizers" I've tried Live 5 has a ton of pre-programmed selections for your adventures. It also allows you to program and name your own with a system that is much, much less complicated than its competitors. The ability to include two separate harmony configurations for main and chorus sections of a song are a giant advantage. I don't use it much but it's there for when I do. Most harmonizers I've used have that "robot" sound to them and are not to my standards. The Live 5 generates its voices in a way that minimizes the synthesized effect and is much more human-sounding. As long as you don't crank the harmony mix too high you'll be very pleased with what this box can do. I really like the ability to program the activation switch for constant on or momentary on. That's a very big factor in my selection of harmonizers. My music tends to switch heavily back and forth with harmonies in a single song which makes the momentary function a must and one which most others don't have. The only reason I'm not giving this a full five stars is not the fault of the Live 5 but that of Digitech quality control. This is my third Live harmonizer (Live 2, 3) and I also have the new 12-string Mosaic pedal, all of which had bad chassis grounds creating a terrible hum, making them unusable. The first two I bought used just to try them out. They were fine at first and then the humming started popping up. The first Mosaic I bought had the same hum and it was returned immediately. That's not a good track record for the company. Their tech assist is fine. The company where I purchased the Mosaic paid for the return but the lost time was a PIA. So with Digitech products keep ALL the paper, wrappings, stickers and shipping containers handy until you to a full check out of the product and the warrantee period has expired. The Live 5 is very well worth the street price charged but still shop for good deals. I got mine from an eBay vendor at a reduced price because it was for the European market, the only difference being the power supply. But he DID provide a US power supply in the deal. Not bad at all.Read full review

The unit is not as easy to program as the Live 3 and twice as big. However the spacing between the stomp buttons makes it less likely to hit the wrong one and shut off the vocals as on the Live 3. The model I purchased is very used and came with a different power adapter (ebay) but at this I have had no issues.
