Not as good as the first season but still pretty compelling tv. I don't know if the first season was better because it was something different than what was being shown on tv or if the content changes had that much to do with its watchability. The first season was funny but dark and was about the women and their family relationships but also about the relationships with each other. The big mystery of the first season gave way to smaller conflicts and intrigues that made the women drift apart. Still the show is witty and smart and the actresses are very good in their roles. This dvd set has all of the episodes plus an unaired storyline, a bunch of stuff with Marc Cherry (the show's creator), deleted scenes, a featurette about the wardrobe and a few other extras. A nice package for any DH fan!Read full review
Here it is! The best show to hit the prime time dial in years! Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Nicolette Sheridan, and James Denton create the most bizarre and un believably satirical world of Wisteria Lane, a beautiful neighborhood with beautiful woman, each lives the perfect life...on the outside! Matching "American Beauty" with "Melrose Place", this fresh, raunchy, and intelligent show revolves around four women who begin uncovering a series of mysteries when their best friend commits suicide. Susan Mayer(Teri Hatcher) is a Striking, chirpy woman with a beautiful daughter and a great romance with Mike Delfino(James Denton), but her flaw of natural klutziness gets her in trouble. Hatcher is irresistibly funny, and brings hysterics to the screen. Bree Van De Camp(Marcia Cross) is the stereotypical "Stepford" wife who brings jealousy to the most sweetest of ladies with her perfect life, blue flowers, smart kids, and exceptional marriage...RIGHT! Her life consists of struggling to retain her marriage, or lack there of. Her children hate her most of the time, and her husband can't stand her perfection. Cross is remarkably powerful in performance, and displays witty charm, and howlingly hilarious reactions to the events surrounding her. Not to mention being gorgeous beyond belief! Lynette Scavo(Felicity Huffman) gets the most sympathy from us as the successful woman, on her way to becoming the most powerful woman in business, and then pregnancy after pregnancy takes it all away. Now, she struggles with the most out-of-control children in television history, and a husband who just doesn't get it, or any thing else! Huffman is exceptional in this role, and deserves the recognition for her efforts. She gains so much sympathy when she breaks on children's medication, Lynette is one most people would love to sit and "bitch" with, I know I would. Next is Gabrielle Solis(Eva Longoria), the perfect woman, the rich marriage the most dreaming life of the block...AS IF! She sleeps with teens, and worms her way in and out of situations both good and bad, but she has her funny moments. Longoria is predictably slutty temptress, with minor qualities to redeem, so far. With a little learning for Gabrielle, we might see more than pretty faces with Mrs. Solis, but Longoria is alright. Last, but NEVER least, is Edie Britt(Nicolette Sheridan), a man-hungry woman with a wip and handcuffs! She will walk all over you to get to your man! Watch out for Edie! Sheridan is just right for this caustic, little sexy villainess of the street. Yes, all the women shine in their glory of the show! Better than anything else on TV right now, and probably in the future, "Desperate Housewives" will satisfy to the very touch of perfection, and beyond! Marc Cherry has created a masterpiece with this one! Thank the almighty for this one coming to the TV screen! May we be blessed with this show for many, many years to come!!!!! A perfect 10/10, 100% brilliant!Read full review
Desperate Housewives is one of the best TV shows (along with Lost and Greys Anatomy) to come out in a long time. In a world where silly reality TV seems to have taken over, it is refreshing to see a quality show out there like Desperate Housewives. Desperate Housewives is one of the few shows that hooks you in, gets you addicted, and takes you on this emotional journey with the characters. With a great balance of comedy and suspense this show just makes you want to see whats going to happen next. I give Disney a lot of credit for putting so much in to there DVD sets. Desperate Housewives The Complete Second Season will come out in late August of 2006 and it will include all 24 episodes and will presented in widescreen format along with a 5.1 Surround Sound. Desperate housewives is a great show. It overexaggerates the roles of housewives which makes a great parody of their lives. each new episode created more suspense than it eliviated from the previous episodes. I would strongly recommed this DVD to anyone who enjoys comedy packed shows. However, i also reccomend waiting until the whole show is over and buy the complete season of the show, Just like "Friends." Although, this would make a great present to ANYONE, whether its for christmas, hannukah,or a birthday, they are sure to enjoy it.
Suicide, Murder, Blackmail, Adultery, and stolen babies. That is SO Season One! Season Two raises the stakes as Wisteria Lane continues to play the peaceful and beautiful backdrop to the complicated lives of these four gorgeous and delicious 'super' women. After the death of her husband Rex, Bree goes through a difficult adjustment period involving an addiction to alcohol, an obsessive and manipulative pharmacist boyfriend who can 'fix' anything with the right pills, and her vengeful son, Andrew, who holds her responsible for his unhappiness. Meanwhile, Gabrielle has Carlos being in jail to think about, while they both are getting downright desperate to have a baby. Lynette returns to her first love, the advertising world, and is suddenly caught up in the delicate balancing act of handling office drama while giving her family the attention they deserve. To complicate the potion, Susan and Mike are swept up into their on again, off again relationship, and Zach being Mike's son only complicates the situation. To add to Susan's troubles, her ex Karl comes back into the picture and gets tangled up with her rival Edie. Beloved Mary Alice's secret is out of the bag whether she wanted it or not, but she continues as the omnipresent narrator who ties all the comlicated storylines together, offering insights into the lives of the characters and life in general. Wisteria Lane also welcomes some new neighbors, the Applewhites, who carry some dark secrets of their own. While the housewives all have their own dramas to worry about, they all stop and wonder what are those noises coming from the Applewhite basement.... Obviously, I loved this dvd set. I would recommend buying it to everyone, especially for the prices you can find on Ebay. My only complaint is comparing the bonus features from Season Two to the features that were on the Season One disc set, I had heard they were not as extensive or as in depth as the first season, and this turned out to be true, there are not as many deleted scenes, and there is not as much backstage commentary offered on the Season two disc, but what is there is still good and should be enjoyed. I hope my comments helped you make your decision, and that you enjoy this disc set as much as I did!Read full review
